I picked up a 2016 Squire Affinity this past Friday (I think it's a 2016 #CY160405171) . It plays surprisingly well and the guy I bought it from modded it out as follows.

    - StewMac Golden Age AlNiCo 5 Pickup Set
    - 3 CTS Pots
    - CRL 5 way blade switch
    - Switchcraft jack
    - orange Drop Tone Cap
    - Orange drop treble Bleed Circuit.
    - connected with vintage push-back wire

Anyhow, I would like to get some locking tuners for it, as I like the ease they offer when changing strings. Does anyone know of any that doesn't require my drilling the headstock? Also, does anyone know the size of the hole. Is it 10mm, or less?

    I found these, but they're for 8.5mm.

...and here's a pic of the new addition to the family.

These should work and cover the 2 pin holes from the original tuners...

I was hoping to not have to drill into the headstock either, but if that's what I have to do, no biggie. Thanks for the link. I'm adding them to my favorites just in case.

Looks like tuners are the only thing left to change. He even changed to a 3 ply PG (unless Affinities come like that now).

I'll be adding strap locks as well. I actually bought it becasue I had planned to tear it down for another project, but it plays nicely and sounds great. Looks good as well. I have a thing for green these days. No sense ruining a good thing, so I'm keeping it as is Well, other than some new tuners and strap locks.

Forgot about the strap buttons. Change those and then you'll literally have everything different from when it left the factory (aside from neck and jack plates).

Email sperzel. Mr. Sperzel himself answered my emails, even the problem when they sent the wrong thing. Nice man to work with. Tell you don't want to drill, they make some.

I suggest the Fender "F" logo locking tuners. They should be a direct replacement with what you have on it now. I also suggest forgoing the StrapLoks. The metal-to metal with the way that they fit makes noise.

If you don't want to drill try these. I think the Affinity has the 10mm peg holes. Lots of options for colors, locking, staggered, knob style etc. I'm going to grab a set of these for my Bullet and ream out the peg holes so I can get the black, locking, closed ones which only come in 10mm.

Nope, no wiggle stick. No need for it with this guitar anyhow. At least not for me.

This suggestion was made to me elsewhere, so iam going to have to check into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have Fender locking tuners on both my Strats and my Duo-Sonic. Sadly they will not fit on this guitar. Not unless you do some drilling.

...as for straplocks, I've never had any issues with them making noise. Now you're going to have me listening for it, as all of my guitars have straplocks, and I have a set on the way for this one.

These are similar to the ones I was looking at on Amazon. Thanks for the link!!!

Anyone know what size the peg holes are on the affinity? 8.5 or 10mm? Thanks

Raiders you might try a set of Planet waves Auto trim tuners. They have the same 10mm hole as the stock tuners and with a set of inlines they should even line up with the lock screw. Plus they trim the string when you tune...So how's that for convenience. I have them on three of my axes.

Those are the ones. The only thing I have seen with them is, sometimes if you are playing light strings, you might have to push the string down toward the head stock for it to trim off but it works every time and is perfectly clean.
