    Yeah but No the examples you showed @CalicoSkies are horrible you need a more traditional tartan like the skirts the fella's posted , traditionally clans had their own tartan to their particular family name

    Yeah, just doing a quick search, I didn't find a whole lot of examples.

    Why not? Isn’t that what the strat’s all about? Creativity, do your own thing? I’d have to look up the Shannon tartan, I’ve seen it before, but don’t own anything with it. Maybe a strat would be the ticket.

    Hey, no reason to bring the good name of the Clan MacLeod into this laddie! The yellow, black, and red pattern on the guitar in post #10 has the same colors as the MacLeod of Lewis tartan, but is actually quite different. In tartans, the pattern matters.

    For an example of strat tartan done correctly, here are two of my strats wearing MacLeod of Harris (Green, Blue, red, & Yellow) and MacLeod of Lewis (Yellow, Black, & Red) custom made straps by Jaykco.

    I figure Leo had it right using automotive paint colors but it's your gear, do whatever makes you happy.
