I have a somewhat different opinion.
Not bloody likely.
I play authentic...i just dont...pay authentic......
Couldn't force myself to finish the video (only made it through the 125 year comment). Made maybe a minute or two.
Blah, blah, blah. Whatever it was about was uninteresting to the point I gave up that quick.
It actually gets interesting at the end. He starts getting feisty.
"This is about being original..."
Okay. WHATEVER you say, buddy.
Dude! Tell us about this time machine you found!!!
How far back can you go?
Nice try Mark but I'm gonna chalk this up as a fail.
When Epiphone can build and sell an instrument that's all of 90% or more as good for 1/3 of the price and Epiphone having been around for a very long time is no less "authentic" your pleas fall on deaf ears around my house.
I'll grant you that Gibson does produce some exceptional instruments but more typically their prices are exceptional as well. I know it's tough to sell based on value but "authenticity". Come on man. That's just more Gibson arrogance.
Seriously though... you know how you know you are playing authentic?
You have a sharp edge jabbing into your ribcage and forearm because there is no tummy-cut or contour... and then the head stock breaks off.
Then you know.
You are playing authentic, baby.
This is over a year old and there has already been a backlash and apology tour, including Mark disappearing from the internet for a couple months. People make mistakes. Let's move on.
I likes me "counterfeit" Gibson style guitars.
^This. It's old news. Our time is better spent in respectful discussions about tonewood and mojo.
Didn't this guy get beat up enough when this video first came out? I feel sorry for him, he should have stayed with Norman.
Am I 15 pounds more svelte today?
Robotic tuners? WTF?
Now you know why engineers hate marketing guys.
Just do it.
I'm not sure who the video is meant for? Are counterfeiters cruising Gibson's YouTube page?
But yeah, everyone involved in the video regrets it.
I was so moved by that video that I began to cry.
Then a little voice in my head said "Man up old cool dude, no need to cry. Just pull yourself together and go play your Les Paul, or your S G Custom, or your ES335TD."
So I did. Then I took my Epiphone Les Paul out of the case and spit on the pickguard. I know what you're thinking. But it doesn't say Gibson on the headstock.
He can take his drill sergeant attitude and shove it!
Wrong spokesman for Gibson. Or any other company.
Every body needs milk.
Beef...it's what's for dinner.
