I was at a performance workshop today and borrowed a mid 70’s (near as I can tell) Gibson es-335td today.

    O to the MG [emoji44]

It was so sweet to play, buttery feel and the tone was like 31 year old single malt.

    Damn.

Good thing and/or pity there isn’t enough room on my Visa to get one off of Reverb.

You survived. My trick is to never touch (or play) one that is above my reach- financially. That could cause some serious G.A.S. ;)

Unfortunately/fortunately it was what I got to use as I didn’t take one of my own.

Yeah I played an es335 today too that was amazing. Out of my price range too but one day I'd love to have one.

Eastman makes a pretty good copy of the 335 for a lot less $
I actually play my Eastman more than my '63 historic

I used to be that way with Strats and Tele's. My cure was to build them myself.

Tried one at GAK the other month, they are excellent and have 44.5mm nuts if you need the space. Its fourth in a row in my GAS list.

I have the same philosophy. I've never touched a PRS, Gibson Custom shop or LPC because it would cause an itch I can't scratch.

Or you take the classic path : sell many things, to buy one thing, just better. You can do it !

    Actually it was Royal Brackla

It was fun to serve a dram to friends, they’d take a sip and then curl up around the glass as if to say ‘my precious’.

I enjoy lots of different scotches - but this was really special.

Just another shiny object. Love the one your with. I'm believing more and more tone come from the fingers. But... I do recall a 335 I noodled with in a music store a few years ago and it definitely had some mojo. I don't even want to touch one now for fear of expensive GAS.

Well...there's always an Epi DOT 335 clone that can be had used for about $250.00!

I hear you on the GAS. I can’t tell if it’s the guitars or my wife’s home-made chili though:D

Apparently Gibson is taking their time with these. I'm about to call the store to see if there is an ETA yet. I was told 6-8 weeks so we are past that

Well, I do have a 339 Studio that I’m selling because I also have a Godin Mahogany Montreal which is really similar to my 339 plus it has an acoustic pickup so I can play it as electric (HH with split coil accessed on the five way switch), acoustic or mixed. So the Montreal is my main guitar for gigging when it’s not a blues show when I take my Strat.

I was talking to my friend who works at the store I got the 339 from - he was of course the salesman for me. He said “you realize in 30 years some guy is gonna be like ‘Oooh- that’s a 2018? Sweet dude. Can I try it?’ “

    [emoji38]

And with 30 more years of playing in it there’ll be some nice tones coming out.

So just need patience. Of course then I’ll be 90 - so there is that. [emoji12]
