Ok, so I have two or three threads going that are talking about and thinking about kinda threads. This is just the latest.

If I am able to get to a point of playing on a stage, or at the edge of a mosh pit in a taco joint, I am going to assume it will be loud and a crappy ass acoustic environment. Myself in particular, will always be working hard to hear. My little Mustang amp has an open back that I made for it because closed, I had to walk around and hunch and lean and scrunch around trying to find the sweet spot. The open back helped a lot. Thankfully, I am not particularly wedded to that low end kick your ass thump that some famous cabs put out. What I want is a 2 x 12 of whatever size, hell, even a couple of 1x12 would be ok, but I need to hear some fundamentals and I need that sound and that pitch information dispersed to a point where I don't have to stand a certain way to hear.

    I await your thoughts.

I have an Orange 2x12 that is open backed. It’s a well-built cab. I replaced the V30’s with Celestion Golds, and I run my Marshall JTM45 through it.

I can’t imagine ever being in a place where that wouldn’t be loud enough.

Are you interested in just a cab for your amp, or a whole other rig?

I think 2 watts and a 4 inch speaker might be just what you need @Dadocaster :p

My concern is not about loud, it's being able to hear what I am playing. Loud, I can do, but it doesn't help me if I am stunning people at the table near the bar but can't hear myself.

Already own a Micro Dark Terror. That's the loudest 20 watts I ever heard.

Also look around for a good Peavey or even Mesa cab loaded. If you land a Mesa Cab at a good deal no beating that.

112 or 212 used Peavey or Mesa cabs are kind of underrated and looked over and great value and deals either way. Some Peavey cabs even have Celestions loaded instead of their house speaker, Peavey OEM speaker and their cab construction is top notch either way but just saying......

These can usually be had a great deal used on Craigslist, reverb, ebay or whatever.

Good luck man and hope this helps.

I do believe we have a multi-quote malfunction. If not, this must be some kind of cross-over episode.

Look for some real overlooked cabs already loaded as well that are awesome but just heavily overlooked, a Carvin or Crate cab for example.....A fully loaded Line 6 cab with Celestion V30s...these can be had and for the price are stupid deals to look into ......maybe an Egnater cab with loaded Celestion or a old school 70s/80s/90s Randall cab with old school Eminence speakers!?!?!?

These type of overlooked cabs can be had for a song and are an amazing value and perform excellently.

    I'm not sure I understand.
Do you want to drive a cab with the mustang, and are looking for cab recommendations ?

Or a different amp and cab?

If it isn't already, this should be a thing -- whatever it means.... restaurant, band name, "food rage cage fighting":...stuff.

You have jumped your own shark!

If you are loud enough and happy with the tone get an amp stand that tilts the amp up or put it on a chair or table. I get by with a ten inch closed back cab tilted up. Without the tilt I was way too loud in the mix and I couldn’t hear it.

If you can hear yourself over a drummer, that should be more than loud enough for what you are envisioning. My half stack was overkill for the two clubs we played at....a 2x12 would have easily sufficed.
