Have to agree re the really cheap stuff.

My son kindly bought me a used Squier and a tiny little amp for when I visit him in the US - it's horrible!

I've mucked about with the Squier but it still feels like balsa wood with strings on it - and the amp.

It was a very kind thought and of course I play it when I'm over but it's torture really.

Any guitar that costs less than $10,000 and does not have the right name on the headstock is not worth my time.

I only buy the most expensive stuff I can find, because everybody knows that more expensive means better.

When somebody sees me playing an expensive guitar with the right name on the headstock, they immediately know that I am better than them. That makes it worth the money.

In terms of guitars and gear, That sort of says it all.

I'll never knock the beauty of a really fancy guitar but I don't see me playing any better than I do on my pine body, home built Telecaster or my Classic Player 60's Strat.

I love this quote on @Ebidis signature:

Fear the man who can make music on any guitar. It's not the tool, it's the person using it. ;)

Yep. Me and Suzie had so much fun.

Haven't seen Suze or anyone like her in a long time.

It also has to be something someone never heard of until last Thursday.....you know like a Novo or a Fano guitar.....

Like guitars that make you go...."What if cheap 60s Japanese guitars like Teisco guitars were made by a boutique luthier in the US but cost 1000x more, they have to be good right?"

Also need a 10,000$ amp made in someones garage with Crystal Lettuce........a couple 1000$ pedals and a few 500$ patch cables.....

Now I'm ready to rock ;)

If I were super rich I'd buy all that stuff, then pay someone to play it for me, then pay someone to enjoy it for me, while I relaxed in incalculable luxury.

Haha! I'm not even close to being as good at playing them as I am at acquiring them.
