I came across this at Amplified Parts when doing a little R&D. Looks cool (treble bleed with a trim pot). Wondering if anyone has used one....looks cool if it works. https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/circuit-pmt-variable-treble-bleed
Ive never used ine of those but have had a couple of their other products: https://pmtmusic.com/humbucker-control-pot And https://pmtmusic.com/dual-mode-tone-control Their products do what they say they do. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
+1 on the PMT Dual Mode Tone control (guitarelectronics.com).. I have the treble bleed as well and it works fine, it was installed and then uninstalled in favor of the DMT because I find I prefer the real-time control I get from the DMT push-pull.. I just wish the DMT came in more pot values (like 50k for actives)..
You just gave me an idea. I have a DMT in a drawer in my shop now. I may take the board off of it and put it on a 25K push/pull. Could be a fun mod. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Thanks for the insight. What I like about the PMT is the set & forget aspect. It's going on a guitar with minimal controls & hardware (1 pickup, 1 vol., 1 tone).
Something else about this that I would probably change would be to pull off the trim pot and wire a pot on that I could control from the outside since I may want one setting for one song and something else for another...I like options. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
You should do mods like JHS does to Boss pedals...great idea. Drill another hole for a CTS pot that would essentially be a secondary tone control. If you really want to mix it up make a 2-position toggle switch that would select either 0.022 or 0.047 caps. I'm not electrically inclined...that's for smart people...so I should stop typing. Me like working wood.
anyone got any of these boards to get a Photo of them.. https://pmtmusic.com/dual-mode-tone-control sadly i can only see that this has 4 caps and 2 Slide switches would like to know the values of the BLUE CAPS and Pot Depending on the Values and what links up to want could make a Version that just needs a little Twiddle Stick (2mm hole in the Guitar near the POT) and let you change a bit more easier than a Switch inside the guitar (ONE HIT ONLY)
>HOPE I've Drawn it out right!< Link a Tone pot but with 2n2F -12n2F and bass Tone pot (like G&L have) Pot with 1-3n2F cap
Had to add a LINK from the SWITCH as i fear of FEEDBACK Based on the circuit (someone kindly sent me) 6 Capacitors but gives you 4 Combinations Per Low/High Filter DUAL POT (in the same case, one arm to change both pots) Hexadecimal Switch(Suggest small HOLE in the Pick guard and twiddle stick) the one i made before was designed on HIGH/LOW Filters IN-Cap-RES(GROUND)-OUT and IN-RES-CAP(GROUND)-OUT
1M5 Resisters and unknow Cap value and a TrimPot Guess 504 (500K) Now if we can find the other values and circuit, maybe make your own version G&L did use 200pF as a Bleed, and 1nF is said to be good around 10-8 maybe 7-6 Can make it so it changes value as you turn the volume down
Here are some pics, of the one I have mostly apart (push-pull knob failed on that one, pulling up didn't activate the switch):
In the bottom pic the caps are: {222(0.0022uF)} {102(0.0010uF)} {103(0.0100uF)} {222(0.0022uF)} The pot is a 500k push-pull..
Give me a bit and i can get a copy of the instructions too. They explain what the switches do. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
As you can see from the pics I posted, the traces are pretty fragile, I would be prepared for at least one trace to try to lift.. It would almost be better to spec the parts and build a separate one..
I might. I don't know if I will even try it, THO, for an active setup. Who knows though, I do like a challenge. Plus I may get curious as to what EMG's sound like with the bass cut out. Really, I was just thinking about something to mod and I have a pretty good track record with a soldering/desoldering station. Either way it could be fun. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
