I kinda agree with some that covered looks more classy.

Thing is, it really just seems to me that covered HSS somehow has a played out look, while the uncovered is the hot and now look.

Really helps if you have rounded cut outs.

They should all match. That’s the one thing that kinda bugs me about my Modern Player Plus Tele, as the neck pickup is the only covered one.

Strictly with HSS Strats, then, uncovered.

But I agree that covered looks better, classier, on an HH.

Covered looks better, but uncovered is louder and has more clarity. I watched a couple of demos and tried it myself, and was bummed to find it's true.

I'm a naked pickup guy.
I have always been this way.

I LOVE the uncovered, naked pickups.
Black, white, off-white, whatever.

I'm not a fan of the covered pickups.

And then you people showed me
THIS damned thing.
And now I want it.
I love this look.

Should have made this an official poll so we could have had a tally.

My vote would be uncovered zebra.

Why? I just find it more aesthetically pleasing.

...and why.
In Strats, I prefer uncovered.
It's the same reason I don't care for covered pickups in the Flying-V models with the white full-body pickguards. Black, they're OK.
Strat traditionally has pickups that match the pickguard... or contrast... but chrome is pretty rare, just on the lipstick tube pickups.
And especially when the Strat is H-S-S, it just doesn't look right with the chrome bridge pickup.

I kinda think it does look right actually... Just an outdated kind of right.

I was going to build a strat with 2 HB's. I ordered a good quality PG for it. The HB's I was going to use have covers on them. They will not fit the openings on the PG. Uncovered ones fit.

I also have this issue on my mind. I've ordered a new loaded pick guard to convert my SSS MIA Strat with 5 way switch to a HH with a 3 way switch. Either a genius idea or terrible, time will tell!. Similar aesthetic question for covered on uncovered. I'm leaning towards covered to "match" my Squier Toronado. Will see.
