when i say 'final mix', means i'm not writing or arranging any more,
my best last pass before i tweak and master.

so, my demo of this had a more roomy drum kit...
and made it set back a bit, and seem more mellow and groovy..

this kit is less roomy, with a more muscular kick...slightly more aggressive.

i like it, but it's so different,
i no longer have a feel for it.
    any thoughts?

I bet Jeff Beck would blend in, seamlessly trading licks with you on this jam.
    Thank you, sounds great!

    OK, NEW MIX:

re-mastered, with drum part changes, mix changes, re-eq'd guitars,
changed the overall reverb IR from a big stadium setting,
to a wooden room chamber, which sounds so much nicer than the other one.

The lead playing at the first solo reminds me of Steely Dan. You are incredibly talented. Good job!

I like this second mix.. it has a warmer sound but feels like its in a larger space on my monitors and headphones. imho

As always top notch musicianship too.

Sounds pretty good to me Bat. Drums sound like they are sitting well in this mix.

\\hey martin! jeff beck, well, i'm doing his parts!!
    LOL
    thanks for listening

steely dan! whoa! there's a name drop...
thing about the dan is, they had so many guitar players,
it's hard to ever nail just one down! thanks for the comment,
i really appreciate it, ESPECIALLY as i push for an album release in the middle of a pandemic.

    cigburn,
yes, the 2nd mix is the keeper, and changing THIS mix is making me go back and evaluate all the other ones, one last time...
cuz they all have to sit side by side together, sonically...

Very nice playing, and mix overall! I really like that bassline as well! Its funky. Reminds me of Seinfeld’s theme music a little bit. :)

baelzebub! i took the 1st one down,
you must have a cached version of it somewhere!!
    but yea,
the 2nd one is dialed in,
there is very little that i will change to this mix before mastering.

    thanks for listening!

hey thanks hanson! yep, drums were pretty easy to mix,
they just sound good raw, so when i start throwing a few plugs on em, they dial in quick!

    thanks so much floyd..

    hi mjea80

    Seinfeld theme!
    Never hear that name dropped,
I think that whole thing was a synthesizer,
So no bass guitar chops required! LOL

    hey dave, thanks for listening....
you know, it's fun playing over grooves like this,
they are just open enough, with enough 'space' between the fills, that it doesn't beat you over the head! LOL
at least, that's how my head feels...
