    This is a Great Blue Heron eating an endangered (at that time) Lake Erie Watersnake.

    And the Fox squirrel here have a mutation that makes their usually lighter undersides black or their tails white.

    Here’s a white one.

    And a this tan spotted beetle I saw on the front window screen. Never seen it before so I googled it (reverse image search) and found out it’s a Tan Spooted Beetle. What a unique name...

    And Lake Erie looks to be the extent of its northern range.

    It's so cool when the hens bring their brood up for us (Charley and Sophia, the cats) to admire.
    It's funny to watch turkeys "cow" a predator....
    Saw them collectively face down a bobcat...
    Stand up ovation....

    This is a Vermillian Flycather which is quite rare for Central Ca coast area. It's been hanging around Laguna Lake (SLO) for a couple months now. When it first showed up all of the local birders were chasing it around the lake. :p It's fairly common in South Tx, NM, Az, and throughout Mex.
