Pot code question?

I picked up a beat up bass case and found these 2 pots inside. If I'm trying to date them do I use the 032367 number or the 137-7405?

137-7405 comes back with this.

7405. Last two digits of the year. 05 is the week. The other number is the fender part number. You see it on Stackpole and CTS pots stamped in the case.

That looks right. 137 is a CTS code...and he rest translates right.

Cool. One of them rotates freely and the other rotates but with considerable friction. Probably explains why that one's in a case instead of in a guitar. I'll find out if they work or not.

137-7405 is the mfg code and date code IIRC.

CTS pot mfg'd on the 5th week of 1974.


134 is Centralab
137 is CTS
304 is Stackpole.

So 304-7116, for example, would be a Stackpole pot mfg'd the 16th week of 1971

032367 is the part #

If that's from the guitar dater thing everybody likes to use, I'd be just as wary of using it as I am of the "guitar dater" portion of it. You can decode the pots yourself without the need for that. Since it's not an actual database but just a decoder, it isn't guaranteed to give accurate results. GIGO, in other words.

People pay stupid money for them if they need one for restoration. Especially if the Fender part number is there.
