i usually play the chords on my acoustic to start with, and often in a familiar rhythm that comes easier, until i have the digits under control... i find moving to the rhythm and tempo of the actual tune is a lot easier for me then... not that i would be taking any advice from me if i were you. youre light years beyond me!

You've come on in leaps and bounds, Monte, and you filed a really nice take well ahead of me. I'm struggling with this one, so I appreciate the input.

I don't like to pick out favorites, because there have been so many great takes in here, but another player who has made massive progress is @Omar. Both of you have clearly put in a lot of work, not just practice but in terms of getting to grips with theory. It brings a smile to my face when I hear you two delivering the music I always knew you had in your head. :)

EDIT: Love a duck! I've finally got the chord part together. :thumb: I have ideas for the melody and the solo, but that can wait. :)

@fezz parka I'm hoping you can help me with this. Ever since I jumped to my new Mac, Logic Pro X has been doing something that is slowly driving me nuts.

When I record audio, I can see a waveform on screen, but no audio comes out of the speakers, or shows on the meters. It's not a mute button/solo issue, and it's not a problem with the audio file. It's specific to the track. If I create a fresh track, and reimport the audio file, the problem goes away.

I found out how to fix this years ago in Logic 9, but I can't find anything helpful on the Web now. It's all "You've probably got a solo engaged somewhere... " I've tried going through sub-menus to work out what the difference is between a track that sounds and one that is silent, but I just can't nail it.

Any help much appreciated, because this is a real inhibitor to creativity!

Disable core audio and apply the change. Then enable core audio. Kind of a reset for the drivers.

Is the purpose rhythm? form? melodic composition? All of the above and/or more?

Or something more basic? After all this is PMW not PJW. as in music , not jazz

Every music that has chords deals with the basics of a major scale.

In an infinite variety of ways.

    Just asking.:)

Here it comes, warts and all. It's really not well executed, but I tried to go for melodic/harmonic ideas, even if I can't really deliver them.

Many thanks for the Logic Pro input. Here's the weird thing: every new track I create within a project is fine, and only the old tracks from a template I made a few years ago have the problem. Being absolutely rational about this, I think we have to conclude Logic was 'haunted'. Let's hope I've exorcised it. :D
