That was fun, and a little dangerous. I really loved the quick chordal bit to end and resolve section A. I’m away from a guitar - was it Bdim7, F, E7, Bdim7 to lead to Am?

    Rootless sliding dim trick.

Imagine the shape of an open D7 chord.

    download (2).png
    Play only the G, B, and E.

Now slide that up so that your index finger is on the 10th fret.
Then slide it down to the 6th fret, then the 3rd then back to the 6th. ;)

Then the A minor triad at the 5th.

Can I convert all major/minor chords into dominant 7th?

If it works for your composition....sure. Would I? No. ;)

Listen to the bass line. The first two bars of the B section are a minor scale. Then major for the rest. Over the E7 it hints at E mixolydian.

In the A section, it opens with some ambiguity. It could be minor...it could be Dom7. The most consonant sound to my ears would be to keep it minor to reference the Am in the B section. Then it hints at a diminished scale (Or B locrian)in the 3rd bar. Then E7.

So ask yourself...do you feel lucky? :D

I know the feeling. Sometimes it's like the universe is conspiring to prevent quality guitar/music time :(.

Thank you for the clarification my brother :) I asked because I want to play 4-notes chords fingerstyle as I’m bad at strumming lol. I like the movement in section B.
    That’s true :(
Half an hour with 10% battery isn’t enough :D

Best thing I've heard you do. Are you using a volume pedal or a slow gear type thing? Really great atmosphere. Choice stuff Alan.

Cool, thanks Chris. I'm not a big fxs guy but I fired up my ME-80, and yep slow gear is one of the fxs in action.

Surf-Punk-Jazz, and melodic to boot. E, that backing guitar work is awesome, just beautiful playing. Great track!

I really like this chord progression but the Bdim7 sounds really weird to me.

That's because you're not used to hearing it...most guitar teachers today avoid the diminished / half diminished chords.

Its the vii° in C major and the ii° in A minor.

Try this to get your ear used to it. All cowboy/open chords.

    Am - Bdim7 - C - Dm - E7.
    I - ii°7 - III - iv - V7.

Just play it in a circle. V7 back to i.

    Then play this:

    Am - Bdim7 - C - D - Fma7* - G - Am

    Stairway To Heaven-ish. ;)

    Open Fmaj7:

That is very sweet Chris! Love the duel guitar melodies. Great guitar work and composition. Thanks for the backer and fun (and work).
