I love my Vox AC 15. A Blues Jr is also a great choice.

I’m looking at getting a blues jr. Myself. Right now I have a Pro Jr. That’s a pretty good amp too. It only has a vol. and tone knob.

I would say either of those are a good choice.

If you' re only ever expecting to play at home without accompaniment of drums and bass I doubt you'll need more than 5 Watts.
Fender Champ or one of the other simple 1or 5 Watt amps ?

I love both my Tweed Blues Junior and '68 Custom Princeton for home play.

Last year I bought my first tube amp. Vox ac10 still got it. Then I bought a blues junior but I ended up trading towards a Princeton but I like the junior and I had the basic model.
If the right circumstances happened I would own another, maybe one of the other editions. I did not like the tweed.

Also I from what I have played I thought the blues junior had the best reverb I ever heard. I like it more than my Princeton too. but it's all subjective of course.

I'm going to suggest the Vox Night Train. I was at Music Go Round here in Pa. last week and plugged into it on a whim. IF I hadn't just spent a ton of money on my Bias Head Amp, that little sucker would've come home with me. Seems very versatile and seems to do cleans and crunch equally well. I don't have much experience with it- played through it for about 1/2 hour. But it was good enough I had to force myself to stop playing it (as well as force myself not to buy it...LOL:().

$249.00 new, I imagine if you found a used one it would be VERY reasonable.

Best wishes in whatever you choose!

. You are absolutely correct ! 15 tube watts will rattle windows and shake pictures off the wall. Trust me on that one. The reason I went with the AC 15 was because it really has a much fuller tone than the AC 4 I compared it to. Plus with the extra power, I can hold my own on those occasions when I do play in a band setting.

    Play at night?
    Family?
    Neighbors in close proximity?

    Do yourself a favor.
    Low wattage? Certainly

But make sure it has a headphone jack.
You'll thank me - especially at 2:30 AM when genius strikes.

Do what I did...Tweed Blues Jr. AND a cheap little Mustang V2. Blues Jr. for the fun jams, pedals and such, Mustang for the late night noodles with headphones. Cheap enough if you get both of them used.

I strongly recommend Jet City Amps. I bought my JCA2112RC for $160 and it’s just amazing. Can do anything, great cleans, pretty high gain, has a tube driven reverb and a 12 inch very good Eminence speaker. It’s a 20w can be played very quietly and it seems to me it can do a regular club gig without any problems. It can be really loud. For a 20w it’s rather big, thank God not real heavy. Just great for a fraction of the price of Marshall, Bassbreaker or maybe a Vox that some people compare it to. To me it has its own sound and I happen to love that sound.

What's your budget? Do you ever wxpect to use it in a band situation? Do you use effect pedals?

Another vote for Blues Jr....great sounds, takes pedals really well, quiet enough for the house, loud enough for the stage.

I'm all for excess, so I went with a DSL40C. Yes, it's massive overkill, but I like it.
