I got one of the wine red Princeton with 12 inch alnico and love it. It’s loud enough for my drummer, we’re not a super loud band. I sold my Carr Rambler, the Princeton sounded better..

The Princeton Reverb is ratty at volume. Weak phase inverter. Played at low volume it's typical fender clean.

The Deluxe Reverb has the long tail PI. Holds together better...and no ratty 3.5k fizz.

The Princeton Reverb is a student amp.
The Deluxe Reverb hangs with the big boys.

I was going to say keep the Bluesbreaker, but that is one heavy sum' beech.

I voted Deluxe. It being hand-wired is icing on the aural cake.

Yeah it used to live in the trailer and the guys would move it every night. I just had to play it and pack it up after the gig and it would disappear back into the trailer. Why do you keep a gig for 22 years? Not having to load gear is a big part of it.

    I gonna roll the Deluxe!

Some guy in a Pat Benatar tribute band wants the Bluesbreaker. He driving from Houston to test drive it. I’m having it gone over by a tech. just to be sure it’s all proper and in good working order.

And @RPKennedy … I still got some big iron amps around if I need one.

Yeah, like fezz said, the Princeton doesn't do cranked overdrive; it gets farty and unpleasant at band volumes. That's why I was careful to say the DR has a wider range of uses.

But when you find uses within the Princeton's range? Tone nirvana.

    “You have chosen… wisely.”

Seriously, I think you’ll be way happier. That 3.5k fizz that Fezz mentioned is always there with the Princeton, and once you hear it, it’s like nails on slate.

Another vote for the Deluxe. Then put a Celestion Alnico Cream in it.

If I had to get one with my own money, I’d get the Princeton. So I did…

I've owned BF, SF and the 80's BF PR's.

Got rid of all of them. Fizzy shizzy.

Wow. Thats a hard choice. I've got a Princeton (non HW) and its great. Its "Fender clean" but a little more mids than you'd think of when you think "fender clean" in my opinion anyway. I think the blackface deluxe is what most people think of tone wise when they think so what mid scooped Fender clean. That being said, I'd go deluxe.

Yeah surprisingly it does come with the C12Q Id switch it out for Jenson Alnico, Tone Tubby Alnicos or Eminence ones.

I use a P12Q in my Princeton Bordeaux and it sounds great but the P12N may be a better choice for a Deluxe. I love a good Fender tube amp and its hard to get better than either of these for sure.
