Hey follks. So I bought a black and gold fender pro tone way back in '97 or '98. Played it a couple of year s then put it back in the case until a couple of months ago. Not a bad little squire and certainly beautiful. I guess I didn't realize I had a real gem in my possession until now.any idea how I would find out how many were made?

    Welcome to the forum!!

No way of knowing - thousands upon thousands were made - but they do hold value around $400 US

Those Pro Tones are highly sought after - they've got a reputation for being guitars that punched well above their price point.

I think they made considerably fewer Fat strats and all of them in black. Over here they sell for less than the SSS models don't know about the USA/Canada but I would expect to pay around £350 for an SSS but about £250 for the HSS

I think i gave somewhere in the $600 range for the guitar and the case back then brand new. I would never sell it, but i didnt particularly think i was buying anything sought after either. I think that was the first time i had seen a floyd rose in a strat from the factory. I always thought the guitar looked better than it actually sounded. I was 23 years old and didnt know much. Ive only recently dug it back out of storage and its currently being set up at a music store. Im kind of excited to get it back and see how it plays.
