Nothing sounds better to my tired old ears than a Les Paul plugged into a cranked Marshall with a tube screamer. Just saying. ENJOY!!!

LP into a Marshall is a great sound. I don’t really like TS circuits though, heard em too much in the early 2000’s when everyone was using two to get their SRV thing on. I’m digging the LP special I bought tonight into my Carr Rambler. Can’t wait to play it through my 5e3 tomorrow at the studio!

Marshall amps suck. That's right, I said it. Who wants a muddy amp with no low end....bring on the hate, I can take it.

Having just got a Les Paul, I've realised there's a large Marshall-shape hole in my amp collection. I shall be attempting to rectify this as soon as possible.

You know, I have never tried a Marshall amp. I don’t know anyone in my vicinity that owns one, and never got round to it in a music store. o_O

LP's sound ugly clean. Not really a musical instrument: just a device for driving 12ax7's to distraction. Aside from Neil Young's let-it-roar stuff, I don't care for them. There's a reason nobody plays jazz on the things.

I disagree too. And no hate, you’re just expressing your opinion, even if it is completely wrong :D

You have a point here. Les Paul himself generally had terrible tone, too.

I'm sure there's clean Lester in music I like, somewhere. Surely there must be. I just can't bring any to mind.

Les Pauls with P90s are great for clean tones, but ones with humbuckers usually aren't so much.

The exception for me is Peter Green, but he seemed to mostly use the out-of-phase middle position sound for clean stuff, so he might not count.

If I even thought about enjoying that combination I'd be evicted before the tubes even cooled down. ;)

That does make sense: P90's are great clean.

I think that whatever combination of guitar and amp and pedal that produces a sound that transports you is the absolute best. There is no such combination that is not the best.
