Cigarettes were the one bad habit I managed to avoid
Hmm, I was a cold turkey guy, Smoked my last one at work, threw the pack in the trash and just quit. I started putting the relatively small savings ($20/week in 1994) toward a down payment bought a car. My mother's premature death was my prompt, but cheapness my motivation. Good luck!
Don’t inhale the cigar smoke - it’s far worse than cigarette smoke.
Don't buy 'em
Don't bum 'em
Patches are a substitute.....but they are hard to keep lit
Oh Grasshopper...the path to enlightenment is filled with many alluring detours...all of which lead you to the same place...
I did the same. Cigarettes got to $20 a carton and were fu*king up my singing voice. So...I treated my addiction with the contempt it deserved. After a few years I thought "I got this!" ...
And thus my relationship with cigars was born.
But a $5.00 cigar is no better than a turd wrapped in toilet paper. A $10 not a significant improvement. Then I hit on Rocky Patel Vintage and Punch Grand Cru Torpedos...
@$15 per cigar...$250 per box on sale...if I only have one a week, two a week, 3...4...5...okay, one a day ...
My advice...a trip to Cuba, Nicaragua, DR...buy a crate at the source because cigars ain't cheap.
Hard to believe what a pack of cigs cost. Glad I quit those mothers.
the bold italics i could've written. for me it was feb 16 2006. i don't miss them at all anymore.
That's cool....but you don't mind if I shoot you do you? Actually the whole post is pretty funny.... But, since you've put all that time into planning, the least thing I can do for you is shoot you...otherwise, the whole thing would have just been a waste...
That's true, but from what I hear, the quality of life of non-smokers beats the quality of life of those with COPD. Diabetes, Stroke, Heart disease, etc...etc.. But, on the other hand, I guess we all have to die of something....
Is there actually a cigar smoker who doesn't inhale?
in all honesty, with my problems, i more than likely will not live past 60, and that is fine by me. and if i live past that i will truly be surprised.
at any rate, what im doing is an improvement.
Good on ya man..I would have thought you had quit when you got out of the hospital last time, and cigars? Kinda nasty but anything you can do to lessen the effects is all good.
The occasional puff or two on a stick to kill the cravings is a step forward. I'm pullin' for ya!
How much are they now out by you? Gal just told me they're $12 a pack in NY where her daughter lives. That's insane.....
You didn't miss a thing.
Damn, that's solid.... You're going to have to put a no smoking sticker on your guitar... Good luck on a big step/ hard change, brother
they are anywhere from about $4.50 to $7 here depending.
Yeah, if there are people who can do this "I'll do a pack, then half a pack tomorrow, then on down to one a day", I have yet to meet them. I quit mid pack cold turkey. I actually kept it for a few months on my dresser and would just stare at it saying "I win!".
Haha I'll check back with you when you're 59 and see if your opinion on this has changed.
Keep at it . It definitely worth it !
