Yay! Rage Against The Machine is going back on tour! Oh damn the cheapest tickets I can find are $400... I thought they were very vocal about being against capitalism?!?!

then you got a guy like Kid Rock who refuses to charge more than $40 a ticket so everyone can enjoy the music

Lyric talk is cheap... tickets are not!
I normally don't make judgment calls, but to me that would be the perfect definition of sellout lol. Way to go RATM

There is a finite window of opportunity to sell out. Must be done during that window. :D

    I wish I had a window.

yeah it's been blowing the internet up for 24 hours... here's RS reporting on it

    an excerpt:
"Tickets for Rage Against the Machine’s 2020 reunion tour were always going to sell fast and attract swarms of scalpers. As such, when sales for the band’s first shows since 2011 finally began on the morning of February 13th, the results were predictable: long digital queues on Ticketmaster, soaring costs on secondary markets, and plenty of wry tweets from fans who wondered whether or not Rage had finally become the machine.

In fact, the band was anticipating this very scenario, and did what it could to get in front of the criticism. Earlier this week, scalpers started posting tickets — before they’d even gone on sale — with speculative prices, prompting a response from guitarist Tom Morello, who urged fans to be wary and get their tickets through the band’s website. Then, just as legitimate tickets hit the market on Thursday, Rage shared a statement on Instagram detailing how they planned to combat scalpers, and ensure that the profits from some necessarily higher-priced tickets went to good causes.

“Since the announcement of our tour, scalpers and broker sites have been listing fake tickets for RATM,” the band wrote. “We want to do everything we can to protect our fans from predatory scalping and, at the same time, raise a substantial amount of money for charities and activist organizations we support in each city.”"

    Been saying that for years.

    Down with the man!

    Down with big business!

    Down with corporations!

But they'll sign record deals, charge for cd's and make a ton of cash touring.

    Eff them.

I would be fine with being a one hit wonder and just living and playing music on the basis of having done something great............once.

There’s a story of a young Japanese artist who painted exquisitely, but charged very high prices for his work. The rich patrons who bought his work thought of him as a sell-out, and one afternoon at a garden party, a snobbish woman asked him how much he’d charge to paint the setting sun on her petticoat. The artist named an outrageous sum, the woman laughed and agreed, and hiked her skirt as the artist knelt. This certainly sealed any discussion... the artist was clearly nothing but a cheap hack who only cared about money.

What people didn’t know was the artist came from a village that was very poor because seasonal flooding had ruined crops many years in a row. The artist used his money to build a huge dam and reservoir system so his village could thrive. When it was finished, he never painted again.

The piece Monte referenced seems to indicate that the band is donating a great deal to charity and trying to keep the resellers from pocketing all the money.

I wasn’t thrilled at first to see Kid Rock but I really enjoyed his performance along with ZZ Top’s!
Foreigner was also on the bill meh , but for $ 40 it was money well spent.

I love their music, but at the end of the day, it's an act...sadly, they are not about what they preach, it's an image. If you haven't figured that out a long time ago, I don't know what to tell you....btw, Black Sabbath doesn't really worship the devil.

    Exactly.

I just looked and tickets are $100 not $400!

Tix went on sale at 11am. Got busy at work. Hit ticketmaster at 12:30ish and the only Tix left were the Charity tickets, $400-750.

Guess I'll have to rage against something else that day.

Kid Rock has done his market research.

It takes his fans over a month to steal $40 from everyone's change dish going through the car wash.
