I sold my PRS Custom 24 with quilted maple top partly because it didn't sound as good as my Fenders, but also because it started to look way too gaudy to me.

I know this seems counter intuitive, but "figured top" guitars just scream out "cheap" as far as I'm concerned (as in "cheap meaningless features"), not the other way around - especially since these days even low-end, bottom feeder models are available with figures tops:

To each their own of course, but the Stratocaster's excellent design alone is nothing short of beautiful, so any added "bling" takes away from its appeal as far as I'm concerned (or at least certainly doesn't improve it).

I love the form-following-function aspect of the Strat, which (short of a couple minor exceptions) is still essentially the same as it was the day it was first introduced to the unsuspecting public back in 1954...

...and the world has never been the same ever since!

A thin veneer of flame maple is .50 cents at the wholesale level, an ebony fretboard is $1.

It's the **perception** of beauty, rarity or uniqueness that gives it value.

You see a beautiful guitar in a shop, you get up closer, and find is a $69 Keith Urban from Home Shopping Club

The Fender “Aesthetically Challenged Series” seems to describe this entire line fairly well so far.

I suppose next it’ll be the Fender “Fugly” series ...

I think that would look really good with a color. Trans blue or something.

I don't know. I seem to like everything the internet hates. And vice versa.

    That is funny.

EDIT: I like the blonde QMT Strat. But that is still funny.

Fender has been doing FMT and QMT strats for awhile. My wish list has the Aerodyne strat on it.

This one’s not too bad, at least the brown sunburst matches the neck, giving it a more aesthetically balanced look.

Still not a big fan of the dark headstock though (draws too much attention)...

Why do they not slant the bridge pickup ? ?
Surely EVH won't sue Fender for making a Strat look like a Strat.

I think they look great. If it wasn’t for the price tag I’d probably have one.
