Its Fiesta Red, i shortened the arm, ive had the neck raised with a full spacer. The tremolo floats with one tone up and as far down as i can go other way. The neck has been stripped and fenderised with nitro finish. Body has tremolo cavity enlarged for big block.

Total build cost is just shy of £500, including labour, fuel to collect donor guitar 220 mile round trip, strings, strap, effects pedals, power supply, hard case.

im very happy with the end result.. it sounds amazing.. its a dream come true..

I include a couple of extra pictures, which includes his guitar and mine at the same angle.. Think ill get a single ply scratch plate at some point

I love it, but the EMGs are the deal breakers for me. I got a set in the 90ies for live gigs, but i never bonded with them. Later on i changed to Gibson Les Paul. About 3 months ago i put a partscaster together but with real SC and good shielding. Better sound with little hum.

Its should not matter what other people say...if you love it and you get what you want out of it then its a great guitar..listening to other peoples biases never adds or subtracts anything from the end result. For what is worth though i believe it has quality parts and especially the emgs are one of the best sounding and versatile sets out there. If you are,for whatever reason bored with them dont change them...just print out an image of a single coil strat pickup and....stick it on top....people ll start praising you of your...true single coil great sound...i can pretty much guarantee it....:D

You're making it tough for me to give you compliments on the guitar. I mean if you like it, that's what matters.

My honest opinion? Not for me. I wouldn't have "fenderised" a non-Fender neck. Also the tuners, I'd rather gone with traditional Kluson type tuners.

But again, it's your guitar and all that matters is what you think. :thumb:

what causes the hum, my MIM had tex mex pickups and it hummed really bad.. it was much better than the original pickups i had in it.. they were truly awful.. is it just a case of lining the inside with sticky foil?

It’s hit or miss on EMG. Some sound great, others not so much. The H4 passive humbucker is a phenomenon sounding pup.

i was thinking of having David Gilmour handwritten signature instead of the Fender but it was too expensive to get a transfer made.. and i certainly didnt want a blank headstock..

    Is that.... Fiesta Red???
NOOOOO!!!.. Gotta be Candy Apple.. :(
    Just Joking.

If it plays good for you then cherish it. Nothing beats a self-made self-assembled strat axe. My Gilmour tribute copy came down to $1000+. The DG20 of mine sounds wonderful.

I thought active pickups did not need shielding. If you are reffering to copper-foiling the cavities..
    Or was i wrong?

I dig it. I'm looking forward to getting mine together in the next couple months.
One thing I will say, though, is I'd go with a single-ply scratchguard to keep it closer to the original.

That's a small detail but for me it would be very important.

Yes indeed. On mine I'm going to cheat ever so slightly and get it in acrylic with a beveled edge, I don't like those 50's-era single ply with the squared-off edge and plastic that warps, but I think that you'd have to look real close to notice a difference.

I'm surprised that David's strat didn't have an extra hole drilled. You can see his has warped quite significantly and it hasn't been rectified. I would have to drill an extra hole or glue it.

I'm on the look out for one. Or I could just paint mine mask it all over and just spray the edge.

First time holding guitar in playing position. Holding camera I've just realised I could take a timer photo and then have both hands in sho .. What a dummy I am
