Can someone help me identify this guitar? Is it a Squire? Sorry these are the only pictures I have.
It is a Starcaster. Very inexpensive guitar. Less than Squier.
I think they sold them at Walmart. (seriously)
Agreed; real "Starcaster by Fender", a sub-Squier brand Fender had that sold at Walmart, Target, K-Mart (when they were still around), etc.
some people here will tell you it's a good platform to do mods on
$40 - $50 on an average day for a starcaster would probably be fair.
They actually are good mod platforms. Full size speced body, the neckscare notorious for fret sprout bad enough to feel like a saw blade...that's fixable though. The electronics are cheap, cheap. Again easily replaced. When all said and done, for a first mod you can really learn a lot and actually make a nice player out of them.
This one was a Starcaster that turned out really nice. Thiugh it did take a lot of work.
Here's a test. Can anyone look at the guitar pictured below and tell if it is, or is not, a Fender Stratocaster? And include what it is about the guitar that "tells" you what it is that brought you to that position. (Just for fun)!!
Seems a little thick in the contour.
real difficult to see in the pics you posted, so based on what I think I can make out; not a Fender neck, because the 12th fret dots are too far apart. As I said it's real hard to see, so that is a bit of a guess
Obviously the pictures were limited to show just the body and a portion of the neck. I have not shown the dead giveaways like the full neck and headstock. Let's get some more opinions and I will put the answer up in a day or two.
The fretboard having 22 frets and a squared of FB at the butt tells me it’s not. Looks kind of like my Glarry, except for the color.
The saddles look wrong to me, but it's hard to tell from those pics.
I'm wondering if this is a trick question, and it is a Fender.
the neck pup looks too far from the fretboard in that blurry pic to me as well. Watch, we will all be taken to school by this one. And in one pick the end of the fob looks squared off, and in the other it looks round when I blow it up. And I can’t even see the saddles.
Glaringly bright white plastics, the look of the finish. I'd say it's a bullet at best.
Guard screws are in the wrong places...
There's no need to put more photos up - that body is not made by Fender or Squier, it looks to be GFS....Guitar Fetish XGP? How do I know? There's no 'notch' that transitions to the top horn......I can spot real and non-real from far away...and you put a 62 pattern 11 hole pickguard on it ....
The body transition from top to edge looks to be too hard for a real Fender/Squier Strat body too.
Looks like a half sized guitar or a scale model to me...
It looked at me funny, so it's fake
Pickup selector looks like the thin blade with pointy plastic tip usually seen on cheap imports. Although picture is blurry, looks like single ply cheap pickguard plus what others have mentioned.
