I chalk it up to how I depress the string more than to gravity.

I thought they sang "My Sharonicles."

Now you know you have to be careful if you're going to laugh ... we don't want those teeth falling out again do we or another of those messy bed baths....

I personally thought you were going to go with something featuring the 'Knacker Man'.... That's an aspirational calling in Yorkshire is it not?

Edit: So busy trying to joke at Thrup'nys expense I forgot to post the one thing I actually wanted to say..... Don't bother with measuring in the main. Fingers and ears are the only calibrating devices required.

    Aye, it's a grand life being t'knackerman.

I never measure anything either, provided everything's within a gnat's crotchet of where I like it, I'm happy.

Have you forgotten what you were going to say again?

PS. I hope you don't mind me messing .... I'm simply exceptionally bored today.

Me too. What day is it anyway? I've lost track, what with life being so exciting in lockdown...

If while browsing through the atrocious choice of endlessly repeated TV offerings I have suffered lately I come across Groundhog Day one more time .......

Then cheer it back up. Show it some love. Give it a massage with some string cleaner and a rag.....

    Oh dear god!

... Perhaps I will go watch Groundhog Day again.

So feeling knackered is feeling like you have been turned into glue. "Pasted" is one older term in the US (or parts of it).

What if you are not a gentleman, what are they called then?

I don’t think it’s possible to do a proper setup without starting with a fret level and recrown. So here are my steps.
    Remove neck from body
    Straighten the relief
Check for loose or lifting frets, and address as needed
    Level the frets
    Recrown
Sand, Buff and polish the frets
    Clean out the nut slots
    Reinstall the neck
    Restring and tune to pitch
Adjust the nut slots to remove any nut erosion which is the culprit for most tuning problems.
When adjusting the nut slot string height I fret the string on the first fret and calculate the gap between the second fret and the string. Then I file the nut so the gap over the first fret on the open string is the same.
Next adjust the saddles to the correct height and to match the fingerboard radius.
Now I play the guitar to check if any notes buzz or choke out when bending and further adjust if necessary
Next I dial in the intonation.

This is what I call a “Setup”

But then what about the common notion that a player should be able to do its own setup?

So, would it be fair to say, "I'm Knackered for Knackering these knackers" ?

There's nothing stopping them. The first thing to do is assess what needs doing.

No, it would sound like you were demented.
