Mostly known as a one hit wonder, Benny passed away yesterday.....age 73 of Parkinson's Disease....
A good tune, very much part of the soundtrack for that year, c. 1980. Farewell Benny.
Seeing this and listening to that long Finally gets his life together, then he got Parkinson’s. Seems pretty tragic overall.
Funny, I recommended that song a couple weeks ago to my Philipino coworker who likes Michael Bolton. He liked it.
One song that surely could not have been published today. Very catchy tune though.
Yeah, the guy in the song is frustrated that he can't pursue a relationship with a 16 yo. Wouldn't get airplay today!
I listened to an interview about the song and the 16 year old Heidi. She was real and sort of inspiring but nothing actually happened between them.... she was his dog walker. His song writing partner saw her and was about to hit on her when Benny said “ She’s 16 years old.. Leave her alone “.... which became the line of the song they were writing...
Love this song. R.I.P.
Is the guy in the song over 18? Hope the guy in the song isn’t 40
I never heard the album version of this song before. Reminds me of when I was 30. I had a GF that was 18. I was 12 years older than her. The next GF after her was 14 years older than me. I wound up marrying that one. Weird how that works.
RIP. Great 80s hit.
Older men fantasizing/pursuing much younger women. PC or not, never goes out of style.
RIP. He has a fantastic voice, extremely underrated. I heard that song was actually reminiscing about a girl when he was also young. Too bad so many people take it the wrong way if that is true. This is an obscure good one from him:
Neither could Stray Cat Blues.
This song is so vocally controlled with power that it's captivating. She could be any age and it would still have soul.
Yeah. Definitely a great tune.
