I'm so sad to hear this. He was really one of the greats and he made a big contribution to electric guitar and the strat in particular.

It got a lot less quiet in heaven! RIP mr. Dale! May you surf the clouds and play celestial strats to your heart's content!

This is really depressing news. I knew he’d been in poor health for a while, and I figured this was coming.

Damn. He was one of my favorite players, and I was lucky enough to see him three or four times, and every time, he left me with my ears ringing and my spirit soaring.

He was a bonafied killer with his Gold Strat in his hands.

Everyone mentions Miserlou, but, if you don’t have it, buy his CD Tribal Thunder, right this minute. It remains one of my ten favorite albums of all time. Play it loud as hell, because, as Dick Dale used to say “Dick Dale invented LOUD.”

Notice the strings on his left handed Strat. He was one of the very few left handed players that could do this.

Guy was a total badass, saw him in Denver not too long ago and it was a great, loud, rocking show. Sorely he will be missed.

Little Jimmy King and his little brother, Eric Gales. Although Eric is technically right handed.
    Coco Montoya.
    Bobby Womack.
    Doyle Bramhall.

And those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. ;)

Dick Dale was/is a legend. He referred to himself in the third person.

fezz parka has met Dick Dale.
fezz parka needed info on Dick Dale's appearances in certain Beach Party movies.
Dick Dale was certain that Dick Dale was the "star" of these pictures.
Dick Dale has an airstrip behind his home in 29 Palms. Because Dick Dale is a pilot.
Dick Dale invented the JBL D-130. The D stands for "Dick" or "Dale" depending on what time of day you ask Dick Dale what the D stands for.
Dick Dale also invented Heavy Metal. Dick Dale read that in Guitar Player Magazine, which he founded.
Dick Dale also plays the Xylophone. While flying his Cessna Super Skymaster.

fezz parka will miss Dick Dale. :)
