Six String Down on the Bayou today. We have lost our hero, mentor and fine Human Being! Our finest blues guitarist has passed away. He has jointed that big band in the sky. I’m proud to say we were friends. He was always so kind to me. So happy to see me. He’s been the best Blues and R&B guitarist in the area since I was a little kid. He always told stories about shooting marbles with my older brothers... My Moma’s home made fresh squeezed Lemon Aid in the summer time. He told me other stories too... playing with BB King, The Vaughan Bros., Eric Clapton, Lightin Hopkins, Paul Simon... and he held a special place of respect for Johnny Winter which he felt was better then all of them. Well maybe not better then BB. I was talking to my boss/band leader after hearing the news... He say “Buck always said “You got a good band. But your guitar player is a Mother....er!” Wow! It’s like getting another blessing after the fact... Lil Buck Sinegal has died https://katc.com/news/around-acadiana/lafayette-parish/2019/06/10/lil-buck-sinegal-has-died/
Lifts my spirit When I read a post like this... I've known no one I'd mourn @Electgumbo . You are a fortunate human....
Nice that you got that posthumous compliment man, that is a gift. You guys have so many great musicians down there, that's one very deep gene pool...R.I.P. Lil' Buck.
Sad news indeed! For a non-native speaker: I thought being called a maternal fornicator was a bad thing?
It always stings losing people like that. But he did seem to leave a nice legacy behind. That always helps ease the pain. I'm sure you guys will send him off in style
@Malurkey I guess is certain context it is. But in this way it is a form of respect and affirmation to the highest degree... not that I’m deserving of such ... But then again either you is or you ain’t... if you ain’t you should stay home
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm sure that he will be missed. RIP Mr. Sinegal. Truly a funk pioneer.
Ah, yes. I come from a ‘low context’ culture. We tend to take things literally. So if you tell me ‘that’s interesting’, I will assume you think it’s interesting, and continue along that path. Common source of misunderstandings...
@RJ Squirrel Wow! That takes back... Lil Buck and The Topcats were so popular in the area they had there own live TV show on Saturday after noon.. They did originals and covers of the latest hits. I was maybe 9 or 10 years old then. But everybody watched it...
