I have to admit, I didn't know much about him until I started to learn to play guitar. But I became a huge fan of his and he was/is an inspiration for me. Very saddened to learn of his passing but his legacy will always live on and inspire many others. RIP Peter Green.
Bah there's nothing sad about it, he made great music, lived a full life into his 70's and died peacefully. We should all be so lucky.
My favourite guitar player of all time and writer of some real classics. My band has covered a few of his songs in our time. Oh Well is next on the agenda when we can play again. The riffing is seminal - spawned so many later riffs. It sounds easy to play but getting the timing spot on isn't. RIP
I remember when Clapton left Mayall and was replaced by Peter we feared that was the end but the album they released "Hard Road" represented John Mayall's best work and every aspiring blues guitarist should listen to that and learn that you don't need to be flash or play at great speed to be great.
