I’ve almost always bought Maple fretboard Fenders with the exception of a couple guitars over the last thirty years or so. I had a MIJ Strat with a Rosewood board that was a complete dog and sold it pretty quickly. I also had a late 90’s American Standard that was an excellent guitar but sold it to finance a Les Paul. In that time I’ve probably owned no less than a dozen Maple board Fenders that have also come and gone.

I recently bought a MIM Classic Series 60’s Strat and have absolutely fell in love with the neck and fretboard. The neck is sized perfectly for my hand, and the playability perfect for me. As silly as this sounds, i actually love the visual appearance of it when I’m playing it looking down at the neck. I got so lucky with this guitar I truly didn’t expect it to be so good. I honestly thought it’d be around for a cup of coffee, but this guitar is going nowhere.

I’m not saying I overlooked the Rosewood equipped Fenders, but always gravitated to the Maple boards. Now when I switch to my Maple board Strat, I miss the visual aesthetics of my Rosewood Strat. Like I mentioned previously, it’s a little silly….I just never expected to feel this way after all these years.

When I 1st started playing I did not like how rosewood looked on a strat. Now I love it and my fingers like rosewood better to. Your guitar looks great.

I believe it’s completely stock other than possibly the pick guard. The original previous owner said he bought it brand new, and it was all original. Im thinking unless it was a Special Run he had to change the guard based off what I’ve seen on other examples. The guy was super cool, told me he played it at church, or in his smoke free home.

In regards to the pickups specifically, they sound excellent. The bridge pickup is weak IMO, but I almost always replace that pickup in my Strat’s. That said, I’m leaving it alone for the time being, first stock Strat I’ve had in a long time and I’m digging it.

I planned to buy a set of 57/62’s to put in it, but the stockers are pretty good to me. It’ll be going in for a setup tweak next week, They’re gonna do a full inspection of the electronics while they have it.

I have a 2008 Sienna Sunburst ash AM STD Strat. The first owner did not like the original maple neck so he swapped it with a 2015 AM STD neck with rosewood fretboard. While I thought I'd like a Sienna Sb with a maple neck, the moment I saw this guitar I bought it. I had always liked maple fretboards better but now I also love rosewood fretboards.

The Sienna Burst with Rosewood board is gorgeous, one of my favorite color combos on a Strat.

I was a maple all the way kinda guy for almost 20 years and I finally got a rosewood and it’s great. I love them both. And they both sound like strats. :)

    You’ve got a great guitar.

I find that when I play either type neck for a few days and switch, the new one looks better.

I like rosewood also. I later got a Classic 50’s strat because I was craving that 50’s mojo, but rosewood is my first choice.
