IMG_1554.JPG IMG_1555.JPG IMG_1556.JPG IMG_1557.JPG Ive found a 1986 62' avri that im very interested in. They want $1425 for it which i feel is reasonable. Attached there's pics of the wiring and it looks pretty rusty. Would this cause an issue w/ the connection/sound & would this need to be replaced or fixed??

It's had some modifications. I wouldn't pay that much.

Looks like flux used to solder to me, instead of rust.

those connections look OK... you could clean those with some contact cleaner if you really wanted to but, they're fine..
yeah, some things have been messed with... those saddles in the 1st pic are also not the stock saddles... that guitar should have bent steel saddles... what else did they swap out?... I'm beginning to think that perhaps... they want too much

I wouldn't know what it's worth, but I agree with Bo. It looks like solder flux, not rust, to me.

to me the brown around the solder looks like flux... but in the dish in the center of the pots, those specs look like rust....

the solder or the wire shouldn't rust as they should have no ferrous metals in them.. the cases for the pots on the other hand are steel, they will rust

what are you talking about? That is the main ingredient in the "relic'd case" look and feel.

It's definitely solder Flux, nothing to worry about.

Heck of a nice looking strat, but yeah solder flux turns brown after a time, and looks like oxidation. Nothing to worry about, these are not the droids you are looking for.

Curious that the documentation look like it might have gotten damp and then dried out.
Sure would like to do a sniff test before I'd put down any money.

I see flux + rust...Nothing that can't be fixed with a new cts pot and a soldering iron though ! If you really like it and the wood seems ok, negociate at maximum and go for it !

Watch out though, the saddles were, as said before, changed...

If the pick ups have been changed it is not worth 1425.00 USD's imo...

That's shoddy work, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for that.

Agreed - something's going on with those photos. The shot of the guitar in the case does appear to be an early AVRI '62 (with the proper pickups) but you can't see the bridge saddles. The first photo no only shows a Lace Sensor but also shows block saddles on the bridge. Photos of two different guitars?
