OK, so it's been many years since I owned a Strat but I see one in my near future ;)

I've noticed over the years that Strat pickup sets are the only ones that ever come in a lefty version - presumably due to the staggered polepieces.

My question is, if you had a big enough rout, what stops you flipping the pickup itself lengthways? Wouldn't the poles all end up correctly staggered then? Or is there something I'm missing? :)

I s'pose that would work to flip them 180 assuming the radius and string orders were reversed for lefty. If the guitar is a recent model the routs should be big enough for buckers so you might not even need to mod it with a router. Wiring might be a bit more tedious though, you'd have to bend those back to get to the control cavity rather than simply pull the leads back toward it.
