The smoke in the satellite image is so intense that large sections of California, Oregon, and even the northeastern Pacific Ocean were clouded by smoke. NASA reports, “The smoke was so thick and widespread that it was easily visible from 1.5 million kilometers (1 million miles) away from Earth.”

I'm currently where CA and NV make that angle with each other, then move west about 50-60 mi. The skies are constantly hazy and it gets worse in the afternoon when the winds shift. By the time evening comes on the sun looks blood red from the smoke.

Was listening to a science call-in segment today in the car.
Guy called in to ask why there isn't any proof that the Earth rotates.

No evidence could change his mind; to him Science is a centuries-old conspiracy whose sole purpose is to convince people the Earth isn't really flat.

Makes sense. Would wouldn't the Earth be pizza box shaped? Why is Jupiter looking at Earth like it is a peopleroni pizza?

It kinda looks like they are all ganging up on flat earth. "You're in the wrong solar system, bud!"

Yes, because it's so important to convince people that the Earth isn't flat. Absolutely imperative, even, because reasons.

The evidence of its rotation confronts us every single moment of every day, too. I've been up on a roof every day for the last two weeks, and I can vouch for the (strong) evidence myself.

Actually the good thing about science is that it always seeks to debunk itself.
Science has nothing to do with truth, that’s a task for the philosophers. Science is constantly looking for a better explanation because it knows the current one is never good enough.

You want a new thing to think about? How about underground fires that can burn for months...

Yeah. Imagine having to completely abandon a town because you literally set fire to the ground underneath it.
    Nutty.
