Back in my day, burning a town to the ground was enough for folks. But, no! Now they gotta burn it under the ground, too. Kids these days is spoiled -- spoiled, I tell ya!

Sorry -- I distract myself from tragedy with tasteless humor.

What's that dark spot on Jupiter? It's the shadow of Jupiter's most volcanic moon Io. Since Jupiter shines predominantly by reflected sunlight, anything that blocks that light leaves a shadow. If you could somehow be in that shadow, you would see a total eclipse of the Sun by Io.

I subscribe to her channel, and while I don't understand 100% of what she talks about, it's always interesting:

The Great Spiral Galaxy in Andromeda (also known as M31), a mere 2.5 million light-years distant, is the closest large spiral to our own Milky Way.

Andromeda is visible to the unaided eye as a small, faint, fuzzy patch, but because its surface brightness is so low, casual skygazers can't appreciate the galaxy's impressive extent in planet Earth's sky.

This entertaining composite image compares the angular size of the nearby galaxy to a brighter, more familiar celestial sight.

    Agreed.

There's new evidence that the halos of Andromeda and the Milky Way are both large enough that the two are already colliding:

I'm afraid so, unless you can get a policy with a halo rider.

    When will people ever learn?
Pineapple should be abolished as a pizza topping once and for all.

It's all a balancing act. No ham. I load it with onions, shrooms, bell peppers, olives, tomatoes & the secret ingredient, jalapenos. The heat competes with the sweet providing an exquisite adventure for the palate.
Those that want to ban pineapple from pizza should be forced to have pizza at least weekly, if not daily, with triple anchovies through eternity. :p

First sin is removing the ham. That's my fave topping.
Second is, if the pineapple tasted so good, why do you need all that other stuff on there?
I'll finish by saying, I'll happily eat the anchovies over the pineapple if those are my only two choices.

That's all that's needed.... and in that order if I'm paying by the topping and they don't include three freebies.

Olives and bell peppers are optional, but I'm good without them.

Give me a sausage and ham and I'll be happy. Pepperoni is great, of course, but sort of strikes me as the "plain vanilla" option as far as pizza goes.

I do it all vegetables whether pineapple is involved or not.
Many folks don't realize how good a pie can be without meat.
Same goes for roasted nuts. Many seem to think salt is mandatory. At any rate, I don't do hog.
It's been awhile since we had a pizza preferences war thread. I don't believe we had one the whole time you were gone. Always a timely subject, it may be time for another. ;)
