I just drove an hour to get what I believe is the neck from 52 re-issue fender that I believe has been in a fire. I also got a tacklebox full of guitar parts that include the original bridge, tuners, and neck pick up Among other things. The neck feels great and is straight as an arrow so I think I’m doing all right. I paid 130 for everything. Also included is the original tuners and electronics to the ‘52 as well as a Tremol-no and some Takamine tuners.

Crazy thing is I have no use for any of this stuff but I couldn’t pass it up. Actually all I need for a new telecaster is a body and a bridge pickup and a nut.

Extra cool! It will turn out a cool relic project. Ae you able or not to remove the burnt black carbonic layer?

    Great find!

What’s the plan for the neck? I mean do you wipe it with mineral spirits and screw it on? Or refinish?

Truss rod works fine. I could probably scrape off the crust but hoping not to. The immediate plan is to polish the frets and put it on my Esquire type guitar and see how it feels. This one.

Cool. So this is like 5% towards you becoming "Keef" --- 5% Micawber, the other 95% - doing basically the same to your body!

OTOH I've always wanted a relic Tele. Maybe time to break down and buy an MJT heavy relic body.

Dawn and warm water first. Can’t do too much wrong with that.

Then I’d be tempted to move on to mineral spirits.

    Still not enough. Naphtha.

After that it’s the orbital sander and refin.
