"Hold me closer, Tony Danza"
"Hold me closer," Tiny Dancer".
Elton John, Tiny Dancer
Friend of mine, pig-headed enough that he probably still insists on this today:
"You always said that pot would never do you wrong"
"You always said the cards would never do you wrong"
Bob Seger, Still the Same
"The smell of that chick just put my spine out or place"
"This mellow thighed chick just put my spine out of place".
- David Bowie, Suffragette City
For the last one... As of today, Apple Music has the lyric:
"This mellow black chick just put my spine out of place".
Jimi used to joke about the mis-heard lyric and sometimes sang " 'Scuse me while I kiss this guy" just for fun.
Holy crap, on AC/DC, I used to think the same exact thing when I was a kid! The monotonous chorus chant reinforced it!
My all time favorite is VH’s Everybody Wants Some, whats that part, when it sounds like Dave is singing “ a cheeka looka like a looking for a moopie”! WTF?!?!!
Their lyrics (VH) are the hardest to understand!
S'queeze me, while I kiss this guy
Can't find the butter m'am
I'll never be your pizza burnin'
It's been five years since I broke my nose (tough one - Message in a Bottle)
I remember, as a kid, I listened to paranoid about 100x trying to write down all the lyrics...got it all right except the last line, which I found out, recently actually, I had wrong all this time...mine was much darker.
the song ends with “I tell you to enjoy life, I wish I could but now it’s too late”. For decades I thought he said “end your life, I wish I could but now it’s too late.” I figured he ended up in an institution on suicide watch or something.
geezer’s lyrics were much better than my dark pre-teen brain was hearing.
Duh. You’re not serious, right? Just a little too obvious.
Several in my life. The most embarrassing was from Aerosmith's "Last Child" where the lyrics go "..just a punk in the street," I heard (and sang loudly) ".. In a bucket of three." Like a bucket of chicken. Have never lived that one down among a certain group of friends.
There's a bathroom on the right - John Fogerty
I'm pretty sure the "Running with a deadbolt" was me.
I couldn't remember who, and didn't want to take credit, but I remember it cracked me up...
Eddie the Mumbler
Two tickets and a pair of dice- Eddie Money
Someone Shaved My Wife Tonight..
ELO, Don't Bring Me Down, "Bruce"
It's actually "Groose" which Jeff Lynne has said is actually just a no meaning word that he threw in there. I remember seeing him on VH1 Storytellers telling the story, and said "#&@* it, I'll say "Bruce" as well". Apparently it's actually a German word for "greetings", but he didn't know that.
Some other time...
Just any other day...
Hmmm...I thought that was "scuse me while I puke and die"
(No disrespect to the great Mr. Hendrix of course!)
