I want to buy an MXR Analog Chorus, but the tone suck people talk about seems real. Aside from that, out of all the demos I've listened to, the MXR sounds perfect to me. Is there someone cloning this circuit but with true bypass?

    Also, not super expensive? Thanks.

TC Electronics Corona (no joke, that's actually the name of the pedal). True Bypass, very clean, toneprint downloads. Ugly color tho

I have 3 TC Electronics pedals and they are marvellous but I have found the Toneprint feature to be a bit buggy on a couple of my TCE pedals

I have an m234. They're not a tone suck per se, but they don't play nicely with line level FX loops.

I found the "clean chorus" toneprint and use it a lot, it's very subtle. I love what it does with single coils.

That it is mate, over here they call that color John Deere tractor green. I have no prejudices when it comes to variety though.

I would say that's more like how an old Oliver tractor might be painted... John Deere is bright. I was a farm girl growing up... :p

Well, The TC Corona and Mini Corona are good, and the TonePrint thing is cool. Hard to go wrong there. But if you have a hang up about digital (and the Coronas are digital) there are options. You could also look at the Mooer King Ensemble. New it is a bit lower price than the MXR (think 60-70% on average). I played one, and liked it, but not enough to replace anything I have.

Another choice (and one I use on my acoustic board) is the One Control Little Copper Chorus. Used on Reverb, it is about the same price point as a new MXR analog chorus. Of course you will have to have a separate power supply for the mini-pedals. However that can be solved with a $7.00 battery connector cable until you can afford something more exotic (or never if you like batteries).

These are just the first vids I came across.

Of course, you could delete the requirement for true bypass and either get the MXR or a Boss (new or used) chorus, and have a sound that is on many recordings. Josh Scott (JHS) and Brian Wampler (Wampler pedals) have both had vids on the benefits and downsides of buffers. I have a buffered Jacques Meistersinger (buffered) that I have had for years, and it is a really nice chorus. Either I have a bad ear (possible) or it doesn’t display the tone suck that folks talk about.

Reverb is a friend in looking up competitive pricing on the pedals you are interested in. Particularly used.

    Good luck.

Do you need to use the Toneprint software to make it usable or is it a good chorus pedal on its own without the toneprint tweaking?

Those old DOD FX60 chorus pedals were really lush, mine (new in '83) is still on my board. They're all over craigslist and ebay for fifty bucks.
