Several years back, I suffered an injury that took me out of the game for a while. During that time I loaned, with serious emphasis on the word loaned, my son my Fender Bassman. While David Allen is more into building his own amps, than doing restorations, I talked him into renovating my '65 Bassman head. The work was beautiful.

Now I want my Bassman back, but Son usually finds a way to forget about it. Strange because he's more of an Orange amp kind of guy, shredder, and Vai type guy.

    Should I,
    1. Fly out, and have a couple of thugs bust his knees with a ball bat, and take it back. Or 2. Contact David Allen and see if he could build me a head that will capture the magic of an orgional Bassman, through 12" and 15" cabs?

Buying an orginal head can be expensive, they are usually fragile, or have been hacked to death over the years, and would face another small fortune having them brought back to life. At this point I'm leaning toward going the Allen Amplification route, spend the money once and forget about it.

Might mention that my son is at least 4 inches taller, has seriously no discernable body fat, and an avid weight lifter. So I might want to want to avoid any "threatening" tactics. unless being surrounded by a crazed bunch of Navy S.E.A.L's as back up.:D

Would probably be the last amp I would ever buy.

Plus you save on the cost of the flight !

Call him up first and see if he still has it, knowing kids he may have traded it.
If he still has it but is using it then do the new amp thing if you want.

    Fly out unannounced.

    Report his car stolen.

Retrieve said amp while son is detained.

If you're going to fly out... Invite yourself to dinner, cook it together, have a few...
    Play some guitar...
When it is time to go, pick up the amp and stroll off into the sunset (or possibly moonlight)

    There's a few amps I'd like back.

But they're gone. Be happy with where you are. Remember where you were. :)

I'll say he no longer has the amp.

Based on what I remember of air travel, as soon as the airline discovers your Bassman is 3 LBS over the limit, they will have a couple of thugs bust your knees with a ball bat.

    David Allen it is.

I suspect there is a third option.

Since you are his father, can we assume that you probably know every embarrassing story from his childhood and teenage years? You know, stuff he wouldn’t want to be made public? Maybe with pictures?

I mean, extortion is such an ugly word...but a really effective way to get am amp back.

I like the way you think.....:whistling: Extortion? Works great in the House and Senate. Why not?? Especially effective if they have pics.

No, selling it wouldn't interest him, doesn't need the money.

Since you posted this on a public forum may I suggest that perhaps you should concentrate on your relationship with your son and then concern yourself with the amp.
