just ordered a set of these pickups for my Clapton Strat!! I’m excited to get these PUPs installed.

I’ve been pretty happy with the Vintage Noiseless PUPs that came stock - they do a better job than folks think. But from the videos and what I’ve read I think the classic stack plus PUPs will be more glassy and chimey SDs design seems to be a bit more innovative than the other sets kn the market maybe I’m just drinking the koolaid there. We’ll see.

But I like having the option of splitting the coils and going true single coil with the middle RWRP for 2 and 4

I read where these PUPs are closer to an SSL 1 in tone. Anyone know if that’s true?

    For my new partscaster,
I bought SSL-2s ( rhythm & the mid which is RWRP ) and an SSL-6 for the bridge.

    Mine will look like this

They are a little warmer and rounder (with more output) than an SSL-1, but my absolute favorite pickups in a Strat.

Your favorite tone-wise you mean? Does the coil tap make a noticeable change in sound? Wondering it it’s worth hooking up to a push pull pot

Yes, my favorite, tone-wise. As far as a 'tap', it isn't a tap- that is a different electrical process altogether, and you can't tap the pickup unless you order it that way. You can split it, however. I like the non-split sound, better, however.

Just checked out some videos. Man, these things sound great. Would someone have to go the custom shop route to get them without the logos?

Yes that’s what I meant. Thanks

Curious, are they hand made after order or prior? Was also wondering like the above post if you can get the PUP cover without the logos?

I saw a video a min ago with the STK-7 and man, sounded amazing. I read on the Duncan site that this pup pairs well with the Classic Stack Plus in the middle and bridge.

They can be ordered as a 'Shop Floor Custom' from any SD dealer without the logo. Then they will build them. If you order a standard production model, chances are, they are already built.

Been considering getting a set of these for my Jeff beck strat.. looking for something noiseless and has the strat spunk to it and from what I hear these can be good for that.

They sound to me, close to the Texas Hots, but just with no hum, is that right? Or totally off base? lol

I’ve read where folks say they’re close to an SSL 1 but a bit warmer and stronger output. I called the SD HQ as I had a few questions. The help desk guy agreed that they were very close to an SSL 1 in tone.

@Seymour Duncan How easy would it be to install the Classic Stack Plus Liberator pickguard? Any soldering?

You have to solder the bridge ground, and the jack wires. It is a good excuse to learn to solder, though, with minimal commitment!

I have a set of them in my MIM players strat. Best pups in a strat in my opinion you won't regret it.

I think that actually combines the Custom, Vintage Hot, and Classic Plus Stacks. Are there other versions?
