    Hi.
As some of you may recently have seen I have a new to me Strat style guitar.
It has been fitted, very poorly, with a set of SSL1 pickups.
I need to rewire it and make all the joints sound so I was wondering if there are any useful wiring diagrams that I might experiment with.
The guitar only has 1 volume and 1 tone but I’m happy to get push pull pots if required.
If I do need to get new pots should I be using log or linear on the volume control?
    Many thanks

Something like this? You don't need new pots if yours work correctly.

    Thank you for the above.
Both those are just standard wiring.
Perhaps there’s something else that maybe does something different?
Like putting the neck and bridge in series or parallel or some other configuration?

I can find plenty of ideas using the third tone control that I don’t have :( and I don’t want to add one or add any extra switches...

Well, you can always add a neck-on switch or a switch to have serial notch positions and just use a push-pull pot, just like you said, or an S-1 switch :D
I used to obsess about stuff like that.

Now, my Strats have master tone and volume and an empty third pot hole... turns out I don't need more. The designers of your beautiful guitar have figured that out ages ago...

But if you wanna have something fun, just tell me what you'd like your guitar to do, even if it's just tonally, and I'll draw up a diagram if it is at all possible :)

Edit: oh, about the pots, try log for vol and lin for tone.

Awesome! Thank you so much for that!
The wiring is currently in such a state that I may take your point about simplicity and try the standard wiring, done properly! At the moment there are dry joints everywhere including the tone cap and it sounds awful...mains hum, tinny tones etc.
But I think you may be right about keeping it standard.
Thank you, and watch this space!
    Much appreciated

Not sure why you’d invest in CTS pots and 5 way if you can’t solder? :thumbd:o_O

    Oh dear :confused::D
'cause you'll have good quality parts if you nail it on the first try.
That's not what happened here, but there had been a chance... :whistling:
I did that as well. Didn't work out for me in the beginning either.

I have a bridge always on a push pull tone pot and love it. Choose the bridge instead of the neck bc I play mostly in 4th and 5th positions

So that would something pretty cool to consider adding that it very useable

So we can go wild with designs and ideas...

    Bridge+ Neck+ Bridge- common
    Bridge- N/C Bridge+ Ground
Making the 5 way switch select between Neck and Bridge/Phase Bridge
Bring in the middle with a push pull
And another push pull for phase of the middle

Would mean you could have neck middle (phase or not) and bridge (phased or not)

    -------------------------------------------

I could go CRAZY and suggest a "Untested" 8 Way switch
    Neck, Neck(Phased), Middle, Middle (Phased), Neck&Middle, Neck&Middle(Phased), Neck2Middle and Neck2Middle(Phased)
that and a 5 way switch (i think could fix) as you have Off, Bridge, Bridge Phased, 2Bridge and 2Bridge(Phased)
