Buddy and ex-bandmate texted me a link to an article that said Ed Sheerhan was partnering with the Irish boutique luthier to produce a new line of guitars.

Not just a signature model but a whole new line.

Can't post the link from my phone but it did describe Sheehan as the most famous guitarist in the world.

I responded to my buddy what a sad world when Ed Sheerhan is the most famous guitarist in the world.

Guess he got a better deal from Lowden than Martin was giving him. Wonder if this new line will be tiny child size prop guitars like his Martin’s were.

Don't know about famous guitarist. Famous singer/songwriter perhaps.

I'd jump at an opportunity to try one of those guitars in my area.

Slag him of all you like but as a professional musician he’s way more accomplished than any of us.... personally I’d rather listen to a kettle boil but the man makes music millions of people love and is one of the very few pop acts flying the flag for guitar players so I don’t know why all the hate.

On a side note Lowden make fantastic guitars so hopefully it all works out...

Lowden are wonderful guitars for sure. Of course every time I've seen a video of Ed he strums a chord or two then proceeds to dance and sing. To me he is using the guitar more as a stage prop. I know he writes his stuff on his acoustics but at his shows it really is more decoration than function. Plus he ripped off the bass line from Marvin Gaye's let's get it on for his pop crap song Thinking out loud. He's now been sued twice for it. And I know he claims he did not do it but the studio added it but I call bull crap, the acoustic version of that song with no bass line has the same exact feel and tone.

But he 's also not a great player either. There are literally several dozen lesser know singer/songwriters I hear everyday on Sirius/XM Coffee House who are far more deserving of a signature line of Martin or Lowden guitars than this guy when it comes to playing ability. I thought it was funny when he was in Game of Thrones singing around the campfire. He does have a good voice though.

Getting a signature guitar has nothing to do with "deserving" it, it's a marketing move by the guitar company to sell more guitars. Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift can sell a LOT of guitars. Not sure if she has one but she should.

That is true that it's not based on deserving one but at least 99% of the players who get one don't simply use it as a stage prop. Yes Taylor Swift had a Taylor Signature model Big Baby. Oh and Taylor can play and sing circles around Sheeran.

first off I'm not a fan of Ed Sheeran but... there is nothing wrong with one man and his guitar playing in front of tens of thousand of people more power to him

He is a decent guitar player. I’m pretty sure many of us would like to play and write music as successfully as him. Why all the hate? Tell me you wouldn’t do the same in his place.

Seems to me the gist of the article was that this would be Lowden's entry level line.

And yeah, Taylor Swift did have a signature Taylor model- Big Baby AIR.

I wouldn’t rip of bass lines from Marvin Gaye to make a hit song. I would also make sure I played my guitar on stage during shows after writing songs on that guitar and not just wear it around my neck as a prop. I do like that he seems to be actually playing at his recent shows since he’s doing smaller gigs and not as many stadiums.

Could it be the Red hair? Before mine went gray it was red, luckily my good looks dominated. A lot of people don't like red hair. Just sayin
