I have seen some interesting reviews and demonstrations of these guitars recently. They are made in China but not at the lowest possible price where quality is guaranteed to be compromised. The guitars in the videos are made with premium materials and parts. They are pricing about 1000 dollars with posting. Suhr look pretty :)

    Thoughts?

Given similar, decent specs, there is no reason that a Chinese made guitar can't be as good as an American one. They will probably still make it for about half the cost too. It happened with Japanese guitars around 40 years ago. If they turn out to be as good as they appear from reviews, then I can see sales going well in the countries around the world that aren't the USA. :)

I wonder how it stacks up against the mim player series.

I thought there was trademark issues with straight up using headstock designs.

They don't have a Fender shaped headstock. No problem there.

The one in the second vid looks like a fender headstock to me, maybe I'm not looking close enough.

I'm not near good enough to judge myself about total quality so I leave that up to others. I put a lot of stock in what Darrell Braun has to say. He really likes it. However, it seems nobody knows how to pronounce the name correctly. According to a Chinese co-worker, you would say it something like "shu-jair" and not "shee-geee". However, since I don't speak Chinese, it's very difficult for me to say it as he does.

Provided he doesn't use "Wangerator®" I won't have to call Flywheel, Sheister and Flywheel...

They sure look good to me. I like the look of that neck in the Darrell Braun video. I probably would give it a shot just to see what they were like

I'd have to try one for myself, goobers on YouTube tell me nothing useful.

the price point doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather pay for a Warmoth Roasted maple neck for 200, Warmoth body for 300 and then 300 for hardware and pick ups. At that point all you need is a screwdriver and soldering iron and you get a better quality parts guitar that probably has better resale value. The Shije guitars should have been priced at 400-500

I thought this was all cleared up a while back, squier bullets are already just as good as Fender custom shop. So these are not quite as good as a bullet?:p:D

    That assumes that:

everybody wants to put together their own guitars, and can afford shipping overseas and customs charges

the people selling the Shijie guitars have no idea about the correlation between manufacturing costs and sales price .
