It’ll void the warranty - is the current OT underpowered?

If you already have the Mojo transformer and don't mind voiding the warranty, sure... do it. Don't be surprised if there's no sonic difference. It's just a replacement transformer for a black panel Champ and Gibson GA-5.

If I were me, I'd do it because it would give me the option of 4 and 8 Ohm secondaries. There are a lot more 8 Ohm speakers available to me.

Sounds like you want to swap a Mojotone OT for what you have in there ? Are they compatible ? As long as the original one is working, I don't see a reason to swap ?

Only changing to accommodate a different speaker... I think I might have voided the warranty by swapping aspeaker allready (two little drops of glue on speaker gasket for a tell-tale).

The original sounds fine and the replacement may or may not be bettermade but, it matches desired speaker ohm rating.

Looks easy enough, no need to pull pcb. Just lacking small spade connector...

Actually 3 connectors... it's done, Gold is back in. While the old R & A sounded sweet, it was a little weak, turns out the cone had some soft spots. That speaker is probably better suited for a little lighter duty.

Okay, I am going to chaulk that up as a learning experience. The weak R & A with the Schumacher OT sounded better IMHO. So after dinner (I eat early) I am going back with the original OT and the R & A speaker...

With the Mojo/Gold se in, the high notes became plinky and some bass and detail were missing.

Looking at the Schumacher where the wires exit, it looks like it is paper wound.

    I'll be back...

2nd OT swap, much easier... And the sound is much more better, night and day...

Would love to A/B this amp with other "good" Champs...

Did you try the 4 ohm tap with the R&A?
