Sherwood Green Metallic. Might be my favorite color on a guitar, certainly my favorite on any Fender. But what interests me is that SGM is one of those colors that seems to have a such a huge variance in hue and brightness from guitar to guitar. Some are very dark, almost pine green, while some are lighter with more teal tones, sometimes I find it indistinguishable from Ocean Turquoise unless the two are side by side. Weird. Here’s mine. It’s a lighter example, and it’s a Warmouth body on a 4-bolt converted 70’s Classic series neck from the 00’s.

Yeah, Paperback.. same here. I basically always wanted THAT Strat! I’d have preferred a rosewood board with aged clay dots with the small headstock w/ Spaghetti logo on mine also...but I had the 70’s neck already and it needed a body.

It always irked me that one of the only ways to get a factory Strat in Sherwood Green over the last 30 years was to spend $2000 on an Am series with it or even more on a Custom Shop model(or a further unfathomable sum well into the thousands on an actual vintage example)

I mean, originally it would’ve been a rare color as it was only available for custom order by customers and select dealers—but c’mon it’s 2020! Free the Sherwood Green! [emoji38]

I don't have it anymore, but it was a fine guitar, and pretty...

Hate to be crude and talk money, but that one I posted was purchased is a CS 59 I bought for $1800 cash, played basically none by the original owner.

Deals are out there and cash talks.

These dark green ones are so gorgeous! I wonder why there’s such a difference in hue with this color, where as Other colors seem to be pretty consistent?

Right! That’s a great deal for a sweet looking and well maintained guitar. But your sort of proving my point too—Sherwood Green was only available here and there on higher end models. Up until recently anyway, with the Squier CV’s and recently Fender did a FSR of Sherwood Green Player Strats.

So very true my favorite strat is a CS 56 that I got used for 1700 bucks years ago. Its the strat I judge every other one by. Its a monster and I got it at a screaming deal. gotta look though.

Oh definitely. And yes that IS a great deal on a CS Strat! I’m just saying it would be cool if Fender offered the color across the full model line and not just on the higher priced instruments. All the other custom colors have been available on the entry level Am Strats and across the MiM and MIJ lines over the years and are fairly available.

The dark ones are much darker than the original Sherwood Green. Fender do play rather fast and loose with some colours, Fiesta Red being the prime example.

I've had people mistake this one for Sherwood Green ;)
This and Sherwood are two of my favorite Strat colors.

I see your point. Doesn’t seem to be commonly offered. They kinda follow the car industry model. “That option is only available on our blah blah series.”
Makes sense from a business perspective but from a consumer one, can be frustrating.

That is STUNNING!! I would’ve guessed Sherwood Green too! So what is the actual color?
