I'm currently saving for a decent Jazzbox and would welcome some inspiration!

I'm leaning towards an Ibanez SJ300.

    Things I'd prefer:

    solid Top
    (Round)Cutaway
    chunky neck

Undecided about floating or mounted Pups.

    Greetings,JFJ

This is my Dad's Framus. It needs a lot of TLC. It's lived in the same spot for 60 years now, since my Mum bought it for him. It will stay there while she's still around. I will get around to getting it fixed up one day, I miss playing it.

Sorry about the crappy phone photo of a polaroid photo taken 20 years ago when I inherited the guitar ...

My Dad had a quite similar one!It had block inlays and a different tailpiece, and an odd neck profily.Chunky with a flat back, very comfortable.I left it in an ex-gf's cellar 25 years ago.
    Shame on me.

After owning several hollow and semi-hollow guitars (Gibson, Heritage, Gretsch and Ibanez), I'm sticking with a PRS S2 Singlecut Semi-hollow. It sounds like a big hollow body, but it's more comfortable and plays like a solid body. I found mine used, with Seymour Duncan pickups, for 1 k.

Wow, nice! What year is this? I might have to look for one of these. What pickups?

They are Seymour Duncan, Saturday Night Specials. They aren't wired for splitting, but the guitar still has the original, split-able Pots. So, I might have to re-wire and see how they sound.

It's hard to believe that these guitars are selling at import prices.

If it's a hollow body, it'd better be a Gretsch

Make sure you play an archtop before you buy it. In my experience youtube demos are often quite different to reality. That Ibanez SJ and its sister SS model are both quite dark sounding.

    I didn't....thanks for the info!
It still shows available in several shops here though.

Anyway,I spend a lot of time researching the subject and found out that what I want a solid Top and a floating Pickup.

Now I'm aiming for an Eastman
    "AC805CEVS" (now that's a sexy name,isn't it?):

Wow that looks sweet! Those big old arch-tops always remind me of bands like Cab Calloway.
I think this is Danny Baker on the arch top in this shot of Calloway's band from 1937.

Sure, it's a problem for lots of people, but the OP is in Germany. Unless he lives in Bielefeld (which may or may not exist) there is possibly a music store within an hour or so that sells at least a few archtops.

A quick google found this list of high end Ibanez dealers in Germany. Don't know if they all stock instruments, but where there's an Ibanez archtop there are probably others. http://www.ibanez.com/eu/news/f_products/2014/prestige/Germany.html
