My 1957 Gibson ES-225. I got it in trade about 35 years ago. It already had signs of road wear on it when I got it. I had to replace the tuning keys and the pots. The pickguard could stand replacing, too. But it's a honey to play...

    Actually it's Danny Barker.

I took some lessons from him back in the 1970's.
He told me "you kids don't know how to play rhythm guitar" - well I thought I did, until he showed me how the big band guitarists like Freddie Green really did it.

His version of a famous Mardi gras Indian tune.

I'm not too close to pulling the trigger on something yet.
Next Guitar-IKEA would be the music store cologne, about an hour away.Unfortunately they don't seem to have any Eastman guitars.

About the sound,I'm not quite sure what would suit me in the long run,so my judgement is purely by looks and specs.
I want a solid top mostly for aestethic reasons,I consider a Hollowbody Jazz guitar more an acoustic instrument and spending 1 or to 2k (or much more) for a plywood box doesn't seem right.
    So,if I have a nicely carved (or nicely pressed,nowadays)
solid top,I just don't like the idea of having a pickup hole cut into
    it...therefore I want a floating pup.
Most important is the feel of the thingy, especially the neck.
From what I read, most Archtops sport necks with about 20-21 mm thickness at 1th fret. That might be quite a bit to thin for me.

I will take a trip to Cologne soon and lay my hands on a lot of guitars.

I'd prefer something classy, but I fall in love with a laminated chinese L5 copy then,so be it.

Nice!!! I want a Casino badly... the blue GC Jr is very nice, but a John Lennon type would do...
