@knh555 that sonic blue 59 is on my wish list , my old man has a 59 that was sonic blue originally, alas refinished bright yellow now in the late 60s .
I love the darkness of the fibre dots looks very authentic . Does it play and sound as good as it looks?.

I couldn't cast a vote with just the two options. I've played vintage spec'd Strats that played phenomenally well while modern spec'd guitars didn't and vice versa. So in short, my preference is, regardless of spec, if it plays well and sounds good, I'm all for it.

Feel-wise, it's my favorite neck. And yes, it sounds awesome. It's bit darker than I think of for 50's Strats, but it is a transitional model of sorts. My 65 is fuller sounding yet. Neither is better than the other, just different.

Regarding that neck, I absolutely love the D-profile. I wish it was more widely available from Fender. It reminds me of the 60s slim taper on my LP in that it's a medium depth but with full shoulders. I like that more than the more common C profile.

Soundwise, here's an example of the AV59 through my Princeton tweed clone (both parts):

A 2002 ‘57 Strat which has been played an awful lot. And a 2001 ‘62 Tele. I’ve owned a ‘62 Strat and a ‘52 Tele too. Loved the Strat, found the Tele neck a bit chunky for my tastes.

Cheers mate. The AVRIs of any era are great instruments but preferring slim/medium necks I really loved the 57 and 62s.

Here is my 2000 AVRI 62 that I purchased brand new that year and gigged heavily from 2000-2007.Every single nick and scratch is genuine with no artificial relic'ing.I still play it once in a while and love it but I have acquired many since then and have to rotate them all.I cracked the body one night when I went a little to 'Hendrix' with it.But the cracked body doesn't affect the sound...gives it some character I suppose.

I voted “vintage” and the AVRI series is my favorite Fender guitar (barring original vintage specimens) period. I happen to also like some of the new Vinteras quite a bit, I’ll confess.

Here are my two. The pics are from when I got them. Meanwhile they’ve earned a few more chips and dings each… Love ‘em both!

I got caught up in the moment of playing 'purple haze' and did my schtick of placing the guitar on the floor and playing it.I threw it a bit too hard...I thought the wooden stage wouldn't be too hard on impact.Silly me...I learned the hard way.

Nice sounds like you put on a Good performance :thumb:. I have a habit of cutting my self on the drummers cymbols when I forget how close I am to him with my right arm flailing around . Cut my self quite badly one night didn't realise until saw my guitar covered in blood oops.
