Not at all thin for me with Ampeg GVT 52-212 as amp, it has 2x12" Jensen alnico speakers. Good with Fender SCXD too, with Jensen P10R as speaker, 2 x P12R in Ampeg.
I have VM Jaguar in sunburst, sharing your opinion, but i love VM Jazzmaster instead. Same color as yours in JM. It has BIG tone in Ampeg!

Haven`t tried surf in my VOX yet.

Yes, i love The Surf Strat!

I run the surf Strat through a 20w Roland Cube or my VOX amp. I am seriously thinking about replaceing the pup's with a bluesier set. Weird as it's one of my surf guitars.....lol
    It plays so well. :)
Rock on and glad to here someone else has the surf Strat ( jag and Jazzmaster :) )

Hmm... i am perfectly happy over how Surf Strat`s pups are sounding. I have 16 Stratocasters, of them 7 Fenders, 6 Squiers, one G&L, one LTD and one Pawnshop Fender 51, if you can count it as Strat. Surf sounds as belonging to 5 best of them. My tastes say so.
Guess it`s a question of your amps, tastes and what music you mostly play and playing style. In retrospect, i have always dreamed having been non-singing member of Beach Boys, playing guitar or bass...or guitarist in Haruko Momoi`s backing band, following Masayo Koike`s footsteps.

None of my Squiers are strats, but this guitar plays better than my MIM Fender. I absolutely love the feel of it!

My Squier Jazz bass. Changed from the standard volume/volume/tone to master volume/pickup pan pot/tone. I can set the master volume and tone then adjust pickup balance with just one control.

Hi everyone, new here. Usually find me over at TGP.
First Squier too. I just wanted the sparkle red body and figured I could use it for a project if the neck was poor. Well after an initial set up it played well and the frets were pretty level! I polished them, filed the ends a bit, rolled the board a bit. Added some chinese blades and a 3 ply guard since Im partial to HB's. Wired the tone pot to the bridge pick up too.

Not content to leave things alone I sanded the neck and tung oiled it with an amber tint. Got a decal "Squier custom" as well, lol! Had it for two months now and I prefer it to my MIM strat and my export model strat.
Want to put a Tusq nut on it too and perhaps upgrade the tuners though , aside from slop, hold tune just fine. $129 guitar, $35 pickups, $12 guard...LOT of elbow grease...

Plays beautifully, love the color and the tinted tung oil neck looks and feels great!
