hahaha I can see that happening.
376! holy smokes man....
Like I always say, I've met some great people here. Some I consider friends really, so what more could a guy ask for?
If we all lived in the same town.... there'd be like 10 guitars groovin' real loud.
Boogie vs Marshall vs Fender Twin!
and I’d be sitting on a lawn chair watching you all kill it!
Wouldn't be caught dead in the same room with them.
Ricci Wednesday Addams: "Wait".
Here we go...
Someone has watched Goodfellas as stated earlier.
I've been on the Grestch-Talk forum because I had gotten into the Gretsch sound. One day it occurred to me that I have 4 Strats so maybe I should check out a Strat forum just to see what I could learn. Since Strat-Talk is a sister site to the Gretsch-Talk site, I came here and I'm glad I did.
I've gotten to know a few folks through their informative posts, and some through their more humorous posts. I'm not much for modding, so when I wanted to mod one of my MIM Strats into a Clapton spec Strat, I found a thread about that, and even learned about a Fishman rechargeable battery pack. The Strat turned out great, with thanks to this forum.
So coming in with the expectation to hang out with others that like playing Strats, and maybe picking up some information, this site has definitely exceeded my expectations.
My thanks to all.
Like others have said, I really had no "expectations", as such, per se, sort of, or thereabouts, or like, whatever, ya know. I started lurking just to read-up on electric guitars, and one thing lead to another and I found myself leaving GC one day with a used Bullet and now here I are.
I did sort of expect (and hope) that I could pick up some technical info and get advice, which has proven to be very true. I learned more than you can imagine about the motorcycles I own from user forums, and the same has proven true here. I love being able to pick the brains of people who have learned before me, saves a lot of time fingering it out my ownself.
What I did NOT expect was the wide range of knowledge and interests exhibited by the members here. Of the "owner/user" forums I belong to, I say this place has more and better sharing of info and basic camaraderie than most. I spend most of my time here in this section and most of my posts don't really have anything to do with guitars or music. This place has actually become my main "social media".
The only downside is that visiting here greatly cuts into my "string time". But if I spent more time playing then I'd need to buy more guitars, so........
It's pretty much what I expected.
Actually, I'm a bit disappointed.
I was expecting hookers and blow. Instead, I got Eric Clapton and tonewood.
Serves you right...
More or less. Members are friendlier and more respectful. There's fewer arseholes, boneheads, and know-it-alls. No snobbery to speak of. It's typically an enjoyable place to spend some time. Many other forums are not as civil as we are here.
If you're into playing bass as well I can give you a link to the hookers and blow forum.
I expected nothing and that's what I got!
I don't know what I expected, but I certainly wouldn't have thought that I'd still be here three years later. Or that I'd end up with 13 guitars, which I'm sure wouldn't have happened otherwise.
I was banned for life there when they found out I don’t do drugs.
