No, this has nothing to do with making a sex toy...and jam the bugger through the french fry cutter just like a potato and you have "tofries". Toss them in a bit of olive oil and season with salt, pepper and onion powder (or whatever you like) then on to a lubed baking sheet @400f for 20min, tossing them @ 10min. Damned good but then, I like tofu in as many inventive ways it can be prepared.

Any other bean curd fans out there?

No, I just like the stuff and when you've spent a good part of your life with a woman that has very limited food choices you get creative...don't get yer' panties in a bunch! I like my steak cooked with a whip.:D

I'm vegan, but I don't know, I just don't do tofu. I do get creative with my cornbread recipe, though.

I played around with the proportions until I got something I liked, so feel free to mod my bread.......:D

    1 1/2 cup flour
    1 1/2 cup cornmeal
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 cup sugar

    2 cups almond milk
    1/3 cup olive oil
    touch of salt
    2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar.

Mix that all up well, pour into a pan, and bake at 350-400 degrees. Since it does rise a bit, the important thingis to make sure the center cooks completely, otherwise it's gloopy in the middle.

Texture is somewhere between cake and bread. I originally followed a recipe of the internet, but it came out like a brick, just way too dense, so I changed a few things to get it lighter.

I use an 8 inch round cake pan, so it rises a lot in the middle and takes longer to cook that part. A larger, rectangular pan might rise less in the center and cook it more evenly. It's was all experimentation, so I never really timed exactly how long it takes to cook.

In that case, I win a lot..............:D. But it makes it much more rewarding when you find the way that DOES work!

    From Granny's secret recipe box
    Cornbread southern style

    2 cups cornmeal
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons baking powder
    2 eggs
    1 cup margarine, melted
    4 cups buttermilk
    1/4 cup corn oil
    1. In a large bowl mix together the corn meal, flour, salt, and baking powder.
    2. In a separate bowl mix together the eggs, butter, and buttermilk. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until well blended.
    3. Heat a dry 12 inch cast iron skillet over high heat for 2 minutes. Add corn oil to skillet, swirl oil around to coat bottom and sides. Leave remaining oil in pan. Return to high heat for 1 minute.
    4. Pour the cornbread batter into the skillet and cook on high heat until bubbles start to form in the center. Remove from stove.
    5. Bake in a preheated 400 degree F (200 degree C) oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
If you want to kick it up a notch, chop about five or six Jalapenos up and add it to the mix. Make you slap your leg child. Enjoy
