Sure you can. 
To expect to record exactly what you hear in the room is a very great expectation. A 57 and a Royer 121 on the cab will not sound alike or like what you hear in the room. For that you need a nice room Mic setup...either a Decca tree or at least a mid/side Mic array somewhere in the room.
And it still will not sound like what your ears hear in the room. Get a clear tone at a good level and a good performance that fits with the backing.
Tone...can easily be manipulated. . Then mix.
