So what's on your workbench now.

Some amazing high quality work here lately. Myself, I've just been doing a couple pickup swaps. Put a set PRS USA HFS and Vintage bass in my Ibanez Art 100, just because I haven't had any luck selling the guitar or the pickups. Then just this morning put a set of Lollar mini humbuckers in my, new to me, PRS Soapbar 2. Fun stuff!

I had a bit of a busy week this last week.
First was to get the"new to me" 2015 Jackson Soloist pickups configured, cleaned and polished. I also changed the bridge to one I had with a high mass copper block.

Been working on the CA finish on this neck that I stripped and made new markers for.

You can already see the sheen starting to form without any polishing.
And yesterday I was working on a buddy's Crown Victoria that had a leaking intake manifold and a bad blend door actuator.

The failure on the manifold gasket.

Printed a few neck shims out of wood infused 3d printer filament:

0.5° 0.75° and 1° 'cause SM stuff is quite pricey...

I just finished sanding and polishing the finish on this neck today. Unfortunately, the fretwire I wanted to use on it is out of stock so it will have to wait until then. This $30 neck is definitely not gonna look its price when I'm done...then again it will be worth a crap ton more in my time and labor. At least it's for me and I am not on any kind of deadline.
Pretty impressive for a complete CA finish all done by hand...even the buffing.

Great looking neck!
Those dots are very different and very interesting!
I'm already anxious for a play through video!
The markers were made from pieces of bread tubing I cut with a small pipe cutter and some rosewood dust mixed with CA glue. Instead of making them and inserting them into the neck, I made them in the neck.

The Gretsch I picked up a few weeks ago is slowly getting better. One of the areas that gave me a bad headache was the headstock where the tuner holes were brutally enlarged with the wrong drill bit. I can only assume that they wanted to get a 10mm hole but only had a 8mm drill? Anyway, there were chips all over, scratches and generally nastiness. I plugged the holes with dowels, cut them with a saw after the Tite bond had dried and applied some black wood kit, sanded that down a bit and now I think I’ll try to buff out some of the worst scratches and polish it up a bit before drilling new holes. I need 8,8mm holes or 1/8th of an inch (I think that’s the size in imperial at least).
Here’s some pics- not for fans of a perfect finish, but it’s better than before, believe me lol: CFC7C78F-A15E-468E-946B-58EF49170468.jpeg
